Scoop
i use the japanese ones, or diamante finger coals.
DVS
Natural wood coals, finger coals or my favorite Diamante easy lites (silver squares). Any one of those coals with provide constant heat, no chemical taste and are relatively cheap compared to quick lites. You might check out the Starlite coals at Social smoke, you get 5 bags for about 20 bucks, a bitchen deal.
insidius
I love my Diamante finger coals. They burn so clean and literally have no smell to them, before, during, or after lighting them.

hookahlife
I would recommend any type of natural coals. These provide the most authentic smoke, last for a good long time and don’t interfere with the shisha flavors. Also, some coals like Smileys coconut coals; you can put out and then re-light. So after you use it, you can put it out with water and light them up the next day when they are dry. Pretty cool. We currently carry Sultan naturals (which are pretty good) and we use these from time to time when we are not too lazy to get them lit. On a side note, getting about 45 minutes out of a quicklight is not bad, and with a natural its hard to get much more. Maybe 1-1.25 hours. The main benefit we see from natural coals is that they dont affect the flavor.(YAY, 100 posts)Hope this helps.
lazria
1st - Japanese Silver Tabs2Nd - Smiley's Coco Shell coalsJST for ease (compaired to other non-ql coals), storage and transport, good heat - and I can get them locally.SCS - harder to light, but last a long time AND are hot as heck! Only 1-2 good sized pieces needed for an hour long smoke. Plus (now I know from experience) they can be put out in water and reused later.

Smiley coals are MUCH harder to light, but they don't have that silver coating, and you can put them on the bowl and start smoking before they are totally lit. RichL
I like the japanese easy lights. They are square and pretty easy to light if you have a stove or hot plate. My first experience with Stargate naturals was that they slid off of the bowl and fell on the ground, but now that I've been using them for a while I manage to keep them on and I love them. They last a long time and they don't mess with the taste of the shisha, whereas the japanese easy lights sometimes leave a little bit taste in my mouth.
