Water Level

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I'm pretty new at this, but I got a Mya QT, all standard, and when I smoke water will come up the stem, and i'll find it in the ash tray. Does this simply mean I have too much water in the base?

Thanks guys

Water in the ash tray? I've heard of the water level being too high, and thus causing water to get into the hose, but I don't think its possible to get water in the ash tray... That would mean water went up through your tobacco, and came out the top, no? That is unless your bowl wasn't very securly put on over the grommet..

Anywoo, I just shoot for 1" of the stem submerged in water. If this is still too much, just take a smidge out. So long as your stem is infact submerged, it doesn't really matter.

A good trick is to put the water in the base and then put the stem on. Put your mouth on the hose port (no hose attached) and suck. If you pull water, pour some out. Keep trying until you don't pull any water and the bottom of the downstem is submerged. Hope this helps. The QT is kinda tricky. I usually have the base around half full. Edited by DrunkenWizard

my thoughts
your release valve in the base isn't working properly (it's not allowing air out) and when you accidently blow into it (it happens to me somethings where i'm exhaling and the hose is too near my mouth), instead of pushing out the smoke in the base, you push the water out and up through the stem. Your stem should be atleast 1-1.5" submerge in the water. If water is being pulled to the hose thats mean your water is too much. It's tricky for mini hookah but when you master it,it's smooth sailing from there on. Peace dude hope you have a great session later. smile.gif

This is fairly easy to do with smaller hookahs such as the QT. Just make sure your ball bearing isn't stuck and/or pull the hose farther away from your mouth before you exhale. Good luck! Other than this problem, how do you like your QT? I'm thinking of picking one up after my next paycheck.

What they said.
Take out the purge valve and clean the ball bearing/replace it, as it is probably coated in gunk and not coming out of its socket when you blow into it.
The water level in the QT isn't that tricky, but i have found a few things that help,
and the biggest one is:
keep the QT on the ground, or at least below the level you are sitting at, that prevents water from getting into the middle of the hose.
