Is This Safe?

spackle? as in "drywall" repair mud?

I don't see it being deadly, but as to watertight??? As soon as your wash out your hookah it might disolve, then you'd be back to sqare 1.

As silly as it sounds, try a very small piece of duct/duck tape. Better as waterproofing and does work (I've done it before). If the crack is large, I would looking something alittle more watertight for long term use. Maybe something like Hot gule (non-toxic). Make sure whatever you use is NON-TOXIC and heat safe

QUOTE (hookah hippie @ Jun 11 2007, 03:11 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I forget to mention that the outer core of the abyss stem is made out of wood

and there is a metal shaft in side of it

I think that only the outer shell is cracked

then how would it leak? unless the crack was right where the base and stem met?

It is hard to explain without a camera
nevermind about the shaft it self not being cracked
i can see it
but the outershell isn't completely airtight until i put the spackle on it now the shaft is airtight again so i think it will still work

on a side question lazria you think the spackle will disolve when wet??

Pretty sure it would dissolve. Hot glue may look ugly and may seep into the stem a bit, but once it's dry it won't do too much except plug the crack. I fear your wooden stem is going to start rotting as it's pretty impossible to keep every bit of water from touching it at this point. Thompson's Water Sealer on the outside? *shrug*
