SMOKE~N~BUBBLZ
A few ways to check your hookah: 1 - put water in teh vase and place the steam in (Water should be no more than an inch above teh stem. 2- Attach teh hose - without teh bowl on, place your hand over teh top of teh hookah and suck on teh hose....if you can suck in any air or see bubbles in the vase means you have a leak common places for a leak: 1 - Where the steam attached to teh vase (Use a grommit) 2- Where the hose attached to teh base 3 - where the bowl attaches at teh top. Also check your steam, pull it out of teh vase and put your hand on one end and blow in teh other to check for a leak, with complex steeams like you have, there are sometimes imperfections. Gives tehse a go and let me know what happens
mushrat
Also check your air valve. Make sure the bearing is working properly and it isn't just letting air in when you are pulling on the hose. What Ma'asell are you using? Foil or screen?
Mathazar
Send it back to the company for an exchange on a new hookah. Tell them your problems and see if they'll exchange it for a more traditional or modern hookah
mushrat
I second Math's emotion! Cool looking is cool looking....but the KISS principle is good too....
mushrat
Failing that though, make sure your water level isn't more than an inch or so past the end of the pipe. The smoke has to have room to expand and fill the vase before you can then suck it into the hose. No room for smoke in the vase, no smoke to pull into the hose. yashman19
These guys seem to have a pretty good idea of what you should do to try and fix your hookah, but I just wanted to let you know that my close friends who got me into hookah have your same hookah, except the dragon, and it smokes very well. Ohh yeah and that hose it comes with is great. Its washable, and I love the long handle. It works really well.
Steviethepope
The water is no more then an inch on the pipe. The Air Valve is fully closed. Also not grommit's are used except for where the hose connects because the shaft is screw on.I want to break this thing why wont it just work

bcoll
Well, first of, you said no grommits except for the hose. I'll ask the obvious, what about the bowl? Other than that, lets take this step by step here. A hookah is not the most complicated device known to man; it works on a simple principle, and there should be a simple fix. First thing you need to do, is check EVERYTHING for blockages. 1.) Blow into one end of the hose. Do you get a nice strong stream of air coming out the other end, or is it blocked or leaking somehow. 2.) Check the bowl, is there anything obstructing the air path from the little holes out the large hole in the base. Trying cupping the bowl in your hands and blowing air through it as well. If it feels at all restricted to you, try cleaning out those hole with a pipe cleaner. 3.) Ok, now onto the stem. Blow into one end, with the air valve totally sealed. Any obstruction there? Does air come out Ok, now that we've oked the individual pieces, lets move right along to the seal. Attatch the stem to the base, with no hose or bowl, and the air valve still closed. block the hole for the hose completely with your hand, and blow into your hookah at the top where the bowl usually sits. If everything is sealed tight, you should feel a ton of resistence, like no air can be blown in. At this point, if everything checks out, put some water in the vase, until it comes 1" above the tube part of the stem which is supposed to stick into the water. Seat an empty bowl with grommit on top of the stem, and attatch the hose. Take a big old pull on that. At this point you should hear water bubbling, and if so, there is nothing mechanically wrong with your hookah. If its not bubbling when you take a pull, chances are you missed something I mentioned earlier. The patch of air on a hookah comes in through the bowl, down the stem, into the water, bubbles up and it sucked through the hose, and into your mouth. There really isn't much that can go wront there except for a blockage, or an improper seal. My guess if you have trouble with one of those, and should be able to identify and fix it if you follow my steps exactly. If you get to the end and your hookah is bubbling like a champ, then we'll need to see about how you are packing your bowl, screening it, and what sort of coal you are using
Steviethepope
Thanks everyone and especially bcoll for the tips. Sorry it took me so long to reply I just got so frusterated that I stopped working on it for a while.I am using quick light coal just on top of a foil. I am now fairly certain that the problem is the coal. Its just not getting hot enough to give me the result I want. Tonight I tried again and when I blew on the coal and got it kinda hot inside I started to get some smoke..... but then the coal died so I am fairly certain thats the problem.Does anyone have some suggestions (IE: something I can buy in the Seattle area) to light these things? Tomorrow is my day off so I want to go buy something to help get these things hot. BTW - I have a BBQ but its in the garage right now - it wont be pulled out for another week or so - otherwise I would just use that
