Some Questions From A New User

Recommended Posts

I just dropped 500 bucks on some new hookah stuff after doing some reasearch. I am in college and share a common living/family/kitchen room with 3 other guys. When we all moved in we agreed no smoking in the apartment, and I dont want to piss anyone off by smoking hookah in the common room if it is going to leave a residue or bad after smell. But i want to enjoy my new hookah with my friends during parties and such. So my question to all you avid hookah users is what kind of residue and after smoke is left after smoking the hookah. Also what is the best kinda of shisha if you want the best smoke during and after (smoke that disappears and doesnt leave a bad smell behind) I have smoked hookah at many parties and have never noticed any smell but i am having trouble finding any information on this subject to help convince my roomates.

Thanks,
Matthew

p.s. I bought 6 250g tins of starbuzz, 6 100g packs of starbuzz, 3 250g containers of Nakhla (for the buzz affect), the triple pack of 40mm three kings coals, all the cleaning tools and some extra hoses, and finally the triple stargate modern gunmetal hookah with an ice chiller. I go all this stuff from social smoke hookah.

Just talk to them about it and explain that it will not leave any "smokey" smells behind. Just make sure you clean up after yourself when preparing a hookah. Tobacco on the counter-tops can quickly get messy. You look like you got a lot of good tobacco and a nice hookah, just make sure you clean it often and you won't have any problems with it. Godo luck!

ps. carry your coals in a glass bowl to avoid dropping them on the rug.

Depending on what flavour you use, and the space your smoking it in will depend on how much passive smoking will occur. Small room with hookah being done for 2-3 hours, will defo leave a smell behind, where on the otherhand leaving your windows opened doing sessions with breaks in the middle to let smoke calm down, would be a more useful option.

i'd suggest carrying the coals in a metal bowl of some kind. I once had my coals in a glass ashtray and the heat from the one coal was enough to break the ashtray in half. Better safe than sorry. Edited by Big Boss

same thing happened to me boss...just kinda split into about 5 pieces...

you can just put a piece of tin foil over a plate or something and use that to carry the coals...that's what i do, and i've never had a problem with it.

How would that keep the heat from shattering the glass?

From my experience of smoking hookah, i don't notice any after smoke smell. I smoke indoor and if there's a smell it's only coming from the shisha tobacco but not from the smoke. But if you have after smoke smell just use the air-freshner that should solve your problem. Good choice of picking Starbuzz you'll definetly be making huge clouds later smile.gif If you smoke indoor be very careful of the coal b/c it can do damage to your carpet/rug. Peace have a nice day and blow me a smoke ring aight smile.gif

I smoke in my front room most evenings.

There is very little,if any, residual smell.

However a couple of pointers :-

1. Remove & Clean the Nargile (Hookah) from the room after each session (If drunk, at least remove from room)
2. Ensure you have a method of moving your coals (I use an old iron Frying Pan) to avoid carpet issues
3. Ensure you have a good place to put the Nargile so that drunken frat boys/girls won't send it crashing to the ground
4. Consider using a thick fire-proof rug around the area of the Nargile (See point 3) tongue.gif
5. Consider investing in one of those anti-tobacco air fresher jobbies just to be on the safe side.

Good luck biggrin.gif

i smoke in a about 6x15 room every day, pretty small, enough for a couch, TV, and a table. Me and my friends will fling open the windows and turn on the ceiling fan (if no ceiling fan, one of those portable ones works too) and there is never a smelly residue afterwards. I mean hell, when I started hookahing a few years back I could smoke with my friends and get picked up, and not have an ounce of suspicion due to smell. You should be fine.
