Mya Qt Question

Recommended Posts

just received my qt from hookah-life.com (thx guys)

when i look in the stem, its not smooth at all, it looks very rough, goldish sorta.. is this normal?

i tried scraping at it with my rifle cleaning kit but its def part of the shaft.

also, does the stem unscrew? it looks from the bottom like it would unscrew Edited by clickhea

Hey click,

That funny sahped/colored metal on the inside of the shaft is normal for all Mya hookah's. This occurs from the forging process and its a good way to verify the quality and authenticity of a Mya.

The downstem does unscrew.

Hope this helps.wink.gif

Yes that's normal, the smoke becomes smoother because of the bigger surface.

But it's wrong that all Mya stems look like that inside.

interesting, iam reading reviews now that the shaft which looks like the hand grenade pulls alot better than the others, is this true? if it is that sucks cause i ordered the older stem style :[

I have the hand grenade style stem on my bigger mya Bohemian, and an old style QT, and they both smoke amazingly well.
You will not be dissapointed by your QT. If you ever feel the draw is too hard on it, poke more holes in the foil, but it wont be because of the stem.

any tips before using my qt for the first time tomororw?

Hey Click,

Wash the stem and the hose with some cool water to release any dust that might have built up. Additionally even though the base is small, still fill it with enough water to cover 1-1.5" of the downstem just like any other hookah, and pack the bowl as you normally would.

I hope you enjoy your first smoke session with the QT!!! biggrin.gif

I think an inch of water over the bottom of the stem is a bit much with the QT. With my mya wide and QT, if the hookah is on the table, and the water is more than about 1/2"-3/4" over the bottom of the stem, i get water in the hose.
When its on the ground its fine though.
Aside from that, wash it like like ^^ said, and make sure its airtight before starting.

I would think it would be just the opposite, if its vibrating the water inside is moving too much. Is it bubbling like normal?
Also, make sure its on a flat surface, my qt will make a racket on our metal table if its not flat.

its bubbling well, maybe a little too much which is causing the vibrations... notice it most in the hose when pulling.. next time i'll try adding a little more water, iam getting thick clouds.. its just hard to judge cause i cant reall see the stem in the base too well.

my main concern was that if i put too much water, it wouldnt hold enough smoke. Edited by clickhea

Putting in too much water wont affect how much smoke you get, as everytime you inhale you're pulling fresh smoke from the top.
Too much water will get in your hose though. So try it a bit more and you'll figure out the level.
Hope you enjoy it! I love my QT.

holy crap that water level is high as hell. I put half that amount.

I am surprised you get a good smoke from it then. If it is to much lower than just under the ridge it smokes bad as there is not much water.

We have found that for our QTs that water line produces the best smoking experience with Tang, SB, Lay and everything else.
