leadpipecinch21
So, i've been on the search for a new hookah for the past couple months...started looking primarily at egyptians, found this site and was turned on to the mya vortex, and then this deal fell in to my lap. I haven't gotten it yet, but i'm meeting the guy on thursday or friday(still have to set up the final times, etc...) to pick it up, but how do you guys think it looks? i know pictures don't tell much, but do you guys think it looks sturdy and everything? i really like the looks and everything, and it does look nice, i just don't have experience with egyptian hookahs...anyways, on to the pictures.now, the first thing i notice is the bit of oxidation on the stem...anyone think that it'll really affect the performance/strength of the welds? i fully intend to thoroughly clean it and take off that oxidation as soon as i get it, but if it's going to really affect the performance, i'd like to know ahead of time.it's a 31 incher, btw...stepping in to the big leagues, wooh...and from what i can gather, it's sounding like this hookah was made in 2000/1 or there abouts...anyways, that's about it....let me know what you guys think. 3rooker
Nice man! As long as you like it, then be happy! On to oxidation. Oxidation is actually an interesting thing. It is a natural rust prevention tool metals have. It is a layer that protects the metal. It should not affect the welds what-so-ever. Just clean it off, and you're ready to go! Enjoy your new hookah when you get it.TX

Sonthert
I want a picture of the rest of the stem and the hose port. You want the truth? Its brass, it looks cheapo, but is probably better than 90% of the hookahs on the market. It looks like an Egyptian jar and "rainbow" hose...so I would assume the shank is Egyptian. The hose port looks Egyptian (From what I can see of it), it looks to be one piece casted (excellent) rather than crappily constructed composite hose port. I would place its manufacture around 2003. leadpipecinch21
all i have to say is damn, tangiers...that's a lot of info from a couple of pictures...thanks a lotand i'm paying 45 for it, with a couple rolls of coals, some shisha, and all that other good crap...not a fantastic deal, but for a hookah like that, i'm pretty well satisfied with it...i'll be sure to post a report on how it smokes when i get it too... tj154906
Not a bad deal. I like the way it looks. I'd say, even if it doesn't smoke like a beast, it's 45 bucks, and you've got yourself a pretty cool looking hookah

Scheetz
QUOTE (tj154906 @ Jun 18 2007, 01:23 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>I like the way it looks.Am I missing a photo here? All I see is the vase and lower half of the stem. Is there a third photo of the top half of the stem? But for the price, it seems like a good deal to me. If you do not like something about it just do what I did. Replace that part with something new. And over time you have enough parts to make quite a few hookahs. leadpipecinch21
well, i got the hookah today. Looks a lot nicer in person than it does in the pictures, but whatever. It's just a touch over 30 inches tall, and smokes like a champ. I took her out for a 30 minute quick smoke, everything worked great, and it smoked beautifully, even if it was windy as hell.anyways, some more pictures...here she is in all her glorydetail of the paint on the vase(not much, but just what i wanted)and a nice shot of the stemthe bowl is small, and is definitely something i'm going to be changing out real soon...probably pick up another regular egyptian bowl for it, and a funnel and mod. as of right now a 40 mm three kings covers pretty much the whole bowl, making heat management kinda tricky, but i'll figure it out eventually...The shisha that i got with it(naklah double apple, layalina blackberry, both 250 g with a bowl or 2 smoked from them) were old and are probably going to be thrown away...oh well. Everything else is great though...definitely happy with the purchase, and i can't wait to get this thing going full blast with some good shisha and a couple friends and just have a good time with it.anyways, that's my story, and i'm sticking to it. SmokeMojo
Not a bad deal, it looks to be in good shape.. The stem looks nicer than a lot of the common egyptians I see nowadays. Let us know how that bad boy smokes once you get some good shisha!

Other metals can form oxides that prevent rusting/further oxidation underneath that layer. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RustAnyway, I think the hookah looks great and it is really not a bad deal at all!
leadpipecinch21
so i took her out last night...took the time to set up the bowl well, did everything great, and the results were fantastic...smoked for a solid hour out of it, and up until the last 5 minutes it was quite flavorful and tasty, smoked like a champ too...nice huge white milky clouds. i'm very pleased with it...not i just need to get all that crap i ordered for it...
