Theoretically 4 holes should be moving more smoke in and out, meaning less stale smoke in the chamber. However, I don't think this would actually make much of a difference.

There are better pipe experts here than I (paging Dr. Sonthert), but I think this means you can buy screw in adapters which will turn your one hoser into a three or four hoser. That's the <cough>bullshit!<sniffle> benefit of that particular design. Personally, I would just stick with using the one hose.

ting: only if there are spaces on the top of the stem for the extra ports. Could be a standard body that they just crank out and then put different number f ports on. Is it a traditional egyptian or a modern mya type?

The member is asking about the holes in the horizontal plate that is insterted into the vase (not hose ports). HH, try blocking two of them off with some tape and see if it pulls any different. Interestingly, my new syrian one-hoser has THREE holes ! Go figure.

I think you probably hit the nail on the head mushrat. If there are no matching ports on top, then it was probably just a mass produced plate used for all that brand's hoookahs, regardless of # of hoses. Good call.
