tomtom
I can't decide what I want to buy. My first hookah was a QT (now with a broken base) and now I have a bambino. I want another mya now that can accept two hoses. It seems like the Diva and the Vortex look somewhat similar, except the Diva is of course smaller. Is the vortex worth the extra money, it would cost nearly twice as much. I love small hookahs, I like suprising my friends who only smoke big ones in how good I can load a bowl in a little hookah. But it would be nice to finally have a bigger one. But I have also heard bad things about the new mya bases being to thin, is this true? I have also considered buying another QT with two hoses, I know I could buy a new base but I want to start over, my old one has gotten plenty of use in its life and I will always have the stem around. What are your thoughts for a good two hose setup. The QT would be cheap and I know I like them, and the Vortex and Diva are good looking. Price isn't a huge issue, but I do want to get what I pay for.
tingjunkie
Always go with the hookah that makes your penis look bigger!Seriously though, I have rarely heard anything bad about ANY Mya hookah (regardless of model), and I have rarely heard anything bad about ANY Social Smoke hookah (regardless of model). If all the ones you are considering are Mya's, then I don't think you can go wrong. Buy the more expensive one- just to silence the evil voice that will gnaw away at your brain and cause you to lose sleep wondering if your hookah experience could be 3% better if you had'nt cheaped-out. By the way, love your GPS direction-devices and mildly humorous commercials. Welcome to the forum! Edited June 19, 2007 by tingjunkie
tomtom
I've actually been lurking arpund here for about a year. I have learned so much on this forum, it is the reason I bought the QT and the bambino. I have taken a little break from the world of hookah, but now its summer and I miss it. It seems every time I take a break a new Mya comes out and sparks my interest. It also seems like there are always cool myas on their site but not exactly what I want, stem/base/color combo. Can the be ordered to specification? I really have always liked the funnel shaped bases but I never seem to see exactly the combo I like.
tj154906
I would definitely may the extra and get the vortex. I don't have one myself, but I've smoke from one a few times, and it was quite a hookah.
tomtom
I think that the Vortex is the way I am leaning now. How thin is the glass in the base. I feel really confidenat in my former QT's base and the bambinos thickness, how will this compare.
chubbleton
I have posted about this a couple of times, in regards to my Vortex's base being way to thin. I would stay away from this particular hookah unless you can confirm it's base thickness somehow. I have read a couple posts saying their vortex is just fine, with a nice thick base, and some say it is way to thin. I know for a fact you will be disappointed if yours is as thin as mine. I do have a new vortex vase on its way in the mail (mine was cracked upon arrival). It should be here on Thursday; I will let everyone know whether or not I receive another sub-par model. I must believe that this is an important issue; A brand name $100++ hookah should not come supplied with such a base.I really hope this can all get sorted out.Best of luck to you tomtom, though I do suggest holding off on the vortex until either Mya, a vendor, or someone with the proper knowledge chimes in.Chubbleton

Someone was saying that they ordered from there and their base was plenty thick. From where did you order yours?

mushrat
The mya are made in china, factory produced and their bases have always had varying thicknesses...You know you can get a replacement vase pretty cheaply for your qt...?
Bryan
Mya Hookahs are great, it's just the base part that is a little weird. That's why I opted for one of their Acrylic hookahs.I just ordered one from their site, a 29" 4-hose Acyrilic. Pretty psyched.
spoolinspoon
I have 4 MYA hookahs and just yesterday bought a new stem for my Acyrilic. Awsome stuff, but you are right about the thickness of the bases. They are sometimes inconsistant.
Hearsay
I just bought this hookah last week: http://www.myasaray.com/store/item.asp?ITE...EPARTMENT_ID=49It's been excellent so far (I hooked it up with a phunnel and an extra hose). If you look in the accessories section you can configure a glass hookah yourself in other colors, although the red is nice looking. You can also use the hookahforum discount with mya to save a little cash. Shipping speed is excellent too. I received my hookah about 26 hours after ordering it, although I do only live a few hours from Mya's store.
smokeup
chubbleton -- How was your experience returning the cracked or too thin Vortex glass base with hookah-shisha?? I've been looking at the Vortex from them as well. It looks sick. But your experience with the thin glass really worries me -- especially when having to shell out $130 for it to begin with. chubbleton
In all honesty, I could not have been more pleased with how they treated me! I sent an email detailing my problem within minutes of opening the package (a Friday), I received a response on Monday, saying that everything will be fixed, and HS asked for a picture of the crack if I could be so kind. I sent my picture, and they sent the vase the next day. UPS "rescheduled" my shipment, and it is now going to be arriving this Thursday. I really hope that the replacement will be thicker glass. I will definitely update when it arrives.Good luck to all!Chubbleton
tomtom
Can you configure a hookah however you want from myas website, or just the few that they have shown in the colors shown?
tomtom
Oh, and I know I can replace the base but the stem and hose are pretty worn out, and I heard the shipping is expensive from myas website. So I thought I might as well replace the whole thing if I get a QT
Hearsay
QUOTE (tomtom @ Jun 19 2007, 08:37 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Can you configure a hookah however you want from myas website, or just the few that they have shown in the colors shown? You can PM myasaray or send them an email to ask specifics, they are very prompt answering questions. I ordered the already configured one, but it says on the site that you can piece together your own from the different vases and stems in the accessories section.
