Hey everyone. New to the forum and wanted to say hello. Been smoking hookah for about a year and recently receieved my MYA Vortex over the weekend. It was a very good smoke however the flavor that I got it with wasnt that good (romman fruitpunch cocktail). Ive been reading everyones different opinion and flavors and was wondering what is a very good fruit punch flavor, or berry flavor. Have tried a few different flavors but havent found that favorite flavor that tops the list. If anyone has any opinion I would really appreciate it, and also if anyone has any good reccomondations for any good websites as to where to order the shisha.

P.S. I am from NYC and recently went to a hookah bar called KUSH lounge. Anyone ever go there before? Basically they use MYA vortexes, which is a plus, but they charge $30 a bowl, and $10 to change the small coal when it runs out, so you cant even finish the one bowl that you ordered unless you pay 10 bucks to change the coal. Anyway, Ive been to a few different hookah bars and have never paid so much before to smoke and after that experinece I decided to order my own vortex, which was a plus out of the experience.

Fumari Fruit Punch gets mad raves around here, but I haven't tried it.

Seriously though, F*CK those lounge prices dude! That's beyond insane, even for NYC. And then to charge $10 for a second coal? Bullshit. Check out a place called Habibi Lounge on the lower East Side- Avenue A, between 6th and 7th streets. Real nice place, cool vibe, great staff. Ask for Mahmoud, he's a super-nice guy. I think the prices are about 15$-18$ a bowl, with unlimited FREE natural wood coal.

Sorry, don't know. Try City Search. I set up my own hookah so nice that I rarely even go down to Habibi- even though it's a great place. I wouldn't cross any rivers to get to a lounge unless it was about $5 a bowl!

Oh, forgot to mention... Habibi has bellydancing certain nights too. Worth the trip, tust me!

Sheesh those prices are outrageous, I'm glad the highest I've ever seen is around $13.00 for a bowl, and that is with your choice of fluid in the base and any mixture of flavors in the bowl. Usually they run about $7.99 a bowl at the lounges around here. And half the time it's free for a new coal. You should come to Ohio , they use Vortex's here as well, and the smoke is a fraction of the cost!

About your local hookah lounge/bar the price tag is way too expensive for a setting. It's a good idea that you order a MYA for your 1st [i presume] hookah. Forget about going to that bar again. That is just cut throat price if you ask me. It's the same story here in asia damn people are greedy and i hate that. Anyway give AL-fakher and Layalina a try you'll get hooked to it. Glad to see another face from NYC. Prices here are indeed outrageous. If you are ever in midtown, drop by a place called Hookah Cafe on 60th and 1st Ave. The serve SOEX (8x), charge $25 a bowl for one person, $35 for 2 people, $45 for 3 people (mind you this is still for one bowl) . I though it was a bad joke.

Astoria Queens is def the place to go for Hookah stuff. Steinway Ave, between 25th ave and 30th ave, there are a number of stores and hookah bars. MYA QTs are $40-45, unlike the $75-80 you are likely to pay in the village (yep guys, for anyone who doesnt live in NY, this might seem crazy). There you can also find Al Fakher and Layalina, which you will not find anywhere in Manhattan (only SOEX, AFZAL, and NAKHLA). One of the stores is situated in an Arabic supermarket, the guy there has everything you'll need: extra gaskets, bowls, 3 Kings coal, Al Fakher, MYAs, Egyptians, etc. Great person too.

Anyways, us NY folks ought to meet up and have a smoke together.

What you guys are listing price wise sounds pretty much like my area.
QT's are 75 in stores, if you're lucky you'll talk em down to 60.

A bowl of hookah at the bar near me is 25$ a bowl, and you have to buy a drink, and they will add more coals, but basically once they do, its torched.

Thanks for welcoming me to the forum. Dont worry, I'll never be going back to that place again. But there is one good place that I can recommend if anyone wants a nice hookah place in the city. Its called Horus lounge, on the corner of laguardia and bleeker. About $20 for a huge bowl that lasts a while with unlimited coal (which should be automatic anyway). One of the better ones I've been to. With belly dancing as well. If you go with a nice sized group you get to chill in these cool tent like areas, which was pretty nice. Also, for BK i used to go to a place called Bisselah. Reasonable prices and good Hookahs. But more of a younger crowd. Was good when I was about 18 or so but now that Im 21 Horus is a better match.

And Click, the vortex seems like a very sturdy hookah. Didnt get a chance to look at the glass to see how thick it was b/c the hookah is at my girl's house now, but it was very sturdy, and a good looking hookah that pulled well. Even if the base is a little thin, the design of the base is very good and seems like it would take a lot to knock it over.

Anyway, I havent really ordered anything except from hookah-shisha.com and was wondering about some other sites. I was looking at hookahcompany.com and was just wondering about them. They seem like they have the best prices and biggest variety. Since Im a little tight on the funds right now and I just want to try out some different flavors, I was thinking about getting some AF strawberry and layalina watermelon. Seems like these two have gotten some decent reviews from you guys for such a cheap price. Any other suggestions? Especially for a good mint flavor to go along with it. My girlfriend and I put mint in everything, it just seems to make everything better. Thanks guys. Later.

As far as mint goes, I have a tub of Al Waha After Nine on the way because everyone here raved about it so much. From my experience, some of the Al Waha flavors are hit or miss, but it's pretty cheap so read the reviews to find what's best for you.
