mushrat Posted June 20, 2007 Author Share Posted June 20, 2007 um..ok.first off, the tray isn't any more secure...it sits on the metal ledge, but the gasket can't go all the way down the screw on top part like it could with the old design, so while it has something to sit opn there is no longer anything keeping in ON the ledge. The old desogn was better in that if you pushed the gaslket all the way down it slipped over the top and locked the tray in place. The second drawback I have found is that the bowl no longer can sit on the tray. used to be you could work with a slightly loose bowl by resting it on the tray, now it sits in the air on the top. If the bowl is too big or the gasket is too thin or a little flattened by use, the bowl slips completely over the gasket, which pushes up inside the bowl and then the bowl drops onto the tray, making a seal impossible. Scoop Posted June 20, 2007 Share Posted June 20, 2007 i have a 5 year old egyptian that smokes better than anything else lol.chinese is cool, if you want low quality stainless steel coated bullcrap. my mya is on its 3rd vase (all of which i have done nothing to break, i dont use ice, the bottoms of the vases simply leak and fall off...great). with the common chamber you cant even fully clear your stale smoke (real good). the stem's steel coating is coming off and its rusting at the bottom (high quality lies) and theres an air leak between the screw male/female parts of the shaft / vase. thats high quality. Scoop Posted June 20, 2007 Share Posted June 20, 2007 ive had 3 myas. the first one, the vase was glass, and while filling water into it, the bottom broke off and it fell apart. the hookah itself was tipped over once, and the shaft (part going from the common chamber to the bowl) broke off the common chamber (where the hose and blow off are attached to). When i saw this, i just laughed. my egyptian, little guy, has tipped, fallen, rolled, etc etc. not 1 problem ever. the second is the acrylic vase mya. the bottom just starts leaking a little. usually i cant tell because i smoke on a dark carpet but you notice the water level dropping slowly. then sooner or later, it just pops out. im on the 3rd vase for that. only reason i use this is because the base is pretty stable and its big. has good support opposed to the egyptian which is way more unstable.the third mya i have is the vortex, i got it wholesale...however i have never smoked out of it. i liked how it looks and its a decoration piece more than anything. if mya himself said its anything but chinese i still wouldn't believe him. myas are some of the best looking pieces, but thats all im ready to give them.
