I have not tried this specific one. But I tried it once in a coffee shop in Damascus. I made the smoke colder and less coughing. But I would rather have ice directly in the water, it makes more noise and it is more fun to watch bubbling.

The main complaint I have heard about hookahs with an ice chamber is that they leak once all the ice melts because there is not a very good seal for the chamber. I just prefer to put ice in directly in the water.

Well I think we can all agree that ice in the base makes a huge difference but I am curious if both ice in the base and the ice chamber has a cumulative effect. In other words does it make the smoke even cooler.
Personally I can actually appreciate the ice chamber in terms of facade quality alone.

I use the Chiller as my primary hookah at home. I used the Ice Torrent before it so I have a bit of experience using ice bowls.

I use either cubed or crushed ice in the chiller section and add ice to the base liquid. If I'm using the hookah on the road and can't get ice or only have enough ice to fill either the base of the chiller section, I tend to fill the base first, it cools more than filling the chiller section. Having said that though I do find you get 10-20% denser smoke when you put ice in the chiller section, so while it's not absolutely necessary it still does make for a denser smoke.

As far as rust, there was some slight rust beginning to build up in the Ice Torrent after a year of using it. I got the Chiller 3 months ago and there are no signs of rust on it using it atleast every other day.

Like I said you definitely get a denser smoke, it feels slightly cooler but not by much.

And the base of the hookah is solid enough where it's never an issue (unless you're putting it on a unstable surface or you have drunk clumsy friends around).

Just for reference I'm using a 2 hose Chiller with MNH Small Glass Bowl with Glass Scalli Mod and a Heba Diffuser on the end. Personally I love the design of the Chiller so when I was looking at a new hookah it was a really easy choice from all others just because of my experience with the Ice Torrent.

i've heard of people putting salt water in the chiller and then putting the chiller in the freezer until smoking time

yup the chiller is quite nice, but does leak as they said. Friend had one and did increase smoke thickness a wee bit. Granted he always just about burned the damn tobacco.... XD

Well they are really not worth it I have one at the café and I rarely ever put ice in the pot. It works and all but not so much as a significant difference in temp. just put ice in the base. Or what I like to do is buy some food safe dry ice and drop some pieces in the Ice Chamber and watch it frost over

i TRIED A CHILLER AT MY local hookah shop. It convinced me Ineed to get one.

I foundin the warm summer day my hookah was cooler and the flavor lasted longer, tasted better than my friends who didn't have the chiller. So much so when he refilled his, he got a chiller too.

On a hot summer day, I think it will be absolutely necessary.

I've seen some 32's on hookahcompany and mnhookah and when i get some spare cash, I'll be getting one.

Ok I know this is an old post, but I wanna know more about your experiences with dry ice in the chiller bucket.. how did that work out for you? they say dry ice is 10x colder than ice.. was it noticable? Was it like.. Walking into a walk-in freezer cold? like smack you in the face wow! im in chicago in the middle of january cold? Thats what Im aiming for. I just ordered a 28" 3 hose syrian chiller (gold) Who's bucket is bigger than the base. Looking to fill it with dry ice pellets from my local ice factory. what about loading the base with ice water, freezing the stem for 15 minutes, AND packing the ice chamber with dry ice? is it possible? practical?

I would have made a new thread personally.

Chiller's don't make a whole much of a difference in my opinion. The smoke travels through the chiller for about .1 of a second....

If you want to chill it - try putting a lot of ice in the bottom. But again it's not going to make your smoke 'ice-cold' or anything.

Dry ice is a lot colder than your lungs can safely endure. It's your bod but *I* wouldn't use the stuff. Plus it can't be good for the metal of your hookah. I suspect it makes the metal more brittal with the super cold and back to warm again. Eventually the metal will give.
