Scoop
are you overpacking? that could be juice from the shisha boiling over and cooling on teh coal. Edited June 20, 2007 by Scoop
mushrat
Hadn't thought of that but a fine possibility. What kind of foil are you using? Is there any funny taste like a chemical or plastic burning?
hookaheveryday
try double foil. That helps with the shisha touching the coal problem. See if that works.
Sonthert
Black ash is a scorching effect from too much heat. A lighter effect is a cloudy white buildup. It shouldn't effect much.
chinamon
doesnt each brand of foil have a different recipe for their product?that could be a reason why certain things happen to certain people.

Rani
QUOTE (hookaheveryday @ Jun 20 2007, 04:00 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>try double foil. That helps with the shisha touching the coal problem. See if that works.I've tried various pre-cut foils, and double foiling, but one day in the grocery store I happened to grab heavy duty Reynolds plain old aluminum foil on accident. Works perfectly for me and god knows it's economical. It's not like tearing the pieces is all that much work. I have yet to over-burn a bowl since I started using it. I tried screens but hated them. The HD stuff right out of the grocery store works flawlessly every time.
Sonthert
I prefer Costco's Kirkland Heavy duty foil. I can buy tons of stuff at high wholesale and none of it is any thicker than Costco's HD foil. There are some cute little Kleenex like aluminum sheets that pop out of a dispenser, but they have to be doubled up and then they slip slightly when they're doubled.
