Traffic Jam

Recommended Posts

A few of my friends and I were heading down from Dayton, OH to Somerset, KY for a weekend of boating and such. We left on Friday around noon in hopes of arriving around 4:30. Little did we know that early Friday morning a tanker truck full of sulfur crashed into a UPS truck. I-75 southbound was almost completely shutdown for 24 hours. So our four and a half hour trip turned into a 12 hour trip. We moved about 10 miles in 8 hours. I had brought my hookah and stuff along with me and, after sitting in the completely stopped traffic for about an hour we decided to try and light it up. We had NO water to put in the base because it was really hot and we had already killed it all, so I got out of the car, jumped a barbed wire fence, knocked on a random door, and asked the guy who answered (who was wearing only a towel and a handlebar mustache) to fill my "vase" with icewater. Then I realized that I didn't have any quicklite coals, having recently ordered a box of Japanese Easy Lites. I had my hotplate with me and we had a converter for the cigarette lighter in the car. We plugged that sucker in and immediatly blew a fuse (so stupid). We then had to borrow a bic lighter from the car in front of us and twenty minutes and two burnt thumbs later had two coals nice and red. We rigged up some foil to keep the coals from falling and smoked the most delicious bowl of white peach Starbuzz. It was definitely good way to kill two hours.

10 miles in 8 hours? That is ridiculous! I can't say I've ever had the pleasure of that experience.. that blows!

Before I started smoking hookah, our leadership group was going up to Big Bear (San Bernardino mountains, ski resort stuff) and a horse carrier had overturned at the top of this rise (when the wind turned and hit it). Horses was spread across 4 lanes. It took 6 hours to get 10 miles.

That is, speaking of horses.

One time, me and my bouncer friends were driving down CA S.R. 163 and we got stuck in one place for 4 hours when there was a fatality accident and the closed down the freeway (and there was nowhere to go). Fortunately, we had much beer to pass the time.

looks like a smileys funnel or other glass bowl to me.

And that definitely sucks. I've never sat in that kinda traffic, but i can see it happening in LA.

I live near LA so i'm used to some heavy traffic but 8 hours?! You've got to be kidding me.

And damn you for stealing my thunder! I thought i was the only one here that ever smoked hookah in a traffic jam. It was a shooting on the freeway and my friends and I were stuck for a good 4 hours. Luckily we had my friend's hookah supplies in the car and we had a nice smoke. Some neighboring car drivers came to see what we were doing and even took a few hits! Great social activity to calm the raging nerves of a Californian stuck in four hour traffic.
