Nice Session At Starbucks!

Recommended Posts

I often read books at the local Starbucks in College Station. It passes the time and is relaxing. Then I usually go back home and sit on my porch and read and smoke my hookah till I go to bed. Well today, I decided I would try my first public smoke. I set up shop at a Starbucks. It was great. The feeling of smoking in public was very cool. I got some intersting looks from people, often times staring, until finally they would get the nerve up to come and talk to me and ask what I was doing lol. They said it looks kind of like a bong etc etc. So I kindly explained exactly what the Hookah was and is and they would smile and left learning something new. It was very cool. I also met a nice man from Egypt who reminisced about his Hookah days, but he has since turned to a pipe and tobacco he told me. I smoked a medium funnel, which I did one coal exchange with. With the 2nd set of coals total time was over 2 hours!!! I finsihed my book too so that is good. All in all it was cool and I will probally be doing it again, although it would be better with a fellow smoker to talk with and what not, solo is still good. Anyway, take care.

Michael

Edit-I smoked Havana Pineapple. Alone, it wasn't the greatest, so for the 2nd set of coals I added a bit of Hookah Hookah Passion fruit to the Havana, and that changed it to a nice flavor. Edited by mrmonk7663

Which Starbucks were you set up at? I'm back and forth between CS and San Antonio right now since it's summer even though I have an apartment up there... Maybe we can get together sometime and setup...

I always go to the one on University, closer to Hwy 6, in front of Home Depot. For sure we'll get together and set up sometime. That would be cool. I'm thinking about possibly making up Hookah flyers that would give a brief history of the hookah, tell what it is, etc, to hand out to people when they come up and are like wtf is that isn't it illegal haha. I think that would help shed some good light on the hookah. The Starbuck's employees were very cool with it too, one of the girls there even answered questions the best she could about the hookah to some old lady that was too afraid to ask me haha. Just let me know when you're around and we'll figure something out.

later,
Michael

Were you in like an outdoor 'coffee garden' section? Hard to imagine someone smoking in a Starbucks.

I thought about trying this at the Starbucks right up from my office - not the best "setting" but still would be enjoyable.

There's a few resteraunts w/ outdoor decks that I'm considering visiting and asking if I can smoke - worse they can do is say no.

LOL, no I wasn't inside the store. All the Starbucks around me in Houston and College Station generally have outside areas with tables and umbrellas connected to the store. I was outside at a table.

Hey guys and gals. I had another Starbucks session tonight. Today I went to the Starbucks in Atascocita, TX, right by Humble. It was another good night, I did some Al Fakher Grape. Had many people inquiring what it was and what I was doing. I even had one 50 something year old try it out, and she liked it. Others said the hookah was nice and they wanted it for their living room lol. I did have one lady who did not like it. Matter of fact she hated it. She was with her husband and kids and friends. Everyone in her group was super interested and liked the hookah, but the mom thought it was a drug pipe and she started fussing that she didn't want to be around that thing. They husband kept telling her to stop and it was cool, and so did her kids. The lady finally complained enough to her group that they left, but the real funny part was when the lady walked away, the rest of the group came to me and was like show me how it works and they were so intrigued by it and were smiling so much. All in all another nice session. The suburban area here in Atascocita isn't quite as open minded as the College town of College Station lol, but i'll free their minds soon enough :-)

You must have a very visual hookah. Which hookah are you using?

I may give this a go with my Mya QT with some added hookah base lights for a little more appeal. wink.gif

Here is my Hookah. It is a Mya Stem that I adapted to a Blue Genie Vase with Gold Trim. I use the Wide Mya Hose, the really big one, with a Medium Funnel Bowl. This is definitely my favorite hookah both in terms of how good it smokes and the visual appeal.

Definitely give it a go man, you won't regret it (hopefully lol)
