aleric
Hey guys I love shisha, but I always seem to burn the shisha to a crisp when I smoke it.. THe Shisha I smoke is good quality Al Fakhir, so it can't be the shisha... What do you guys do to ensure thick but not burned smoke? is it something to do with foil, amount of shisha in the bowl or what? Please share your techniques!!! I need help! yashman19
You gotta tell us your setup so we can get a better idea on what you might be doing wrong. Only thing I can say from what you told us, try using less heat. Also pack the bowl lightly. I find that when you pack the tobacco in the bowl too tightly, it doesn't "breathe" well and won't get a good smoke out of it. So try not overpacking, pack it loosely, and less heat. Let us know how things go though.
mushrat
To just expand on yashman19 a little...if I may... Try 2 tablespoons of ma'asell max. It may look rediculously small, but a little goes a remarkably long way and its better to have a slightly shorter smoke than a bowl of ma'aseel flambe. Once you find a working minimum, you can experiment up. If you are using foil, make sure it isn't sagging in on your ma'asell when you put the coals on or when you move them around. What type of coals are you using? what type of hookah? can you take a picture of the bowl empty and as you normally pack it? we're from the government and we're here to help.... aleric
I am using a random brand of coal, called "Flame coal".. it is the type that is aquare and covered with some silver substance... My Hookah is a 3 foot egyptian style hookah which is very good quality, only a one hose.. I will try and get some photos of the hookah and how i pack the shisha, but it might take a while! How many coals do you use, and do you break up the coal? What does your shisha look like when you have finished? Is it black and quite burnt? What is it supposed to look like? Whenever I try to get thick smoke it always burns
cypress
Mine has the topside of the patty chared but the bottom side is still moist.
mushrat
My ma'assel is also cooked on the top, black through out, but still a bit moist on the bottom. It really sounds like you have too much heat, either from having the heat too close to the ma'asell or having too many/too hot coals. If you are using a quicklite type coal some of your taste COULD be coming from the coals themselves.
