Hell I can get a bowl here at my local HB made with Starbuzz/Fusion for $8.....Congrats on that!Yup they serve Al Waha, Layalina, Al Fakher, Starbuzz, and Fusion.... They obviously don't have every flavor of every brand but I can get the first bowl for $7.99 and every bowl after that is 3.99.....Dude, that is f*cking rediculous! Is that per person, or for a bowl regardless of how many people? If it's just for a bowl, I would get a couple friends together and never bother setting my own hookah up again!Well you can put up to 4 on a single hookah and it's an overall charge not a per person charge either. So a table of 4 can pay $2 a piece for the first bowl and $1 a piece for each bowl after that.Wow! My hookah would become a dust collecting sculpture real quick! EternalSoil
I have considered trying his shisha and even buying a bowl just cause they look cool, but i didnt need the bowl and the shisha was expensive at $9 for 150g on shisha that doesnt have great reviews. I wonder what happened with him. from older posts i have read, he doesnt seem like the kind of person i would want to be associated with at all. Just my 2 cents. DrunkenWizard
His place is kinda expensive. Do any of you old timers remember me telling you how they were charging $30 for a Mya hose, the $7 one on the web?

So what is a merchant to do in these situations? Gouge people for every penny and take advantage...

aldonb1
yeah that is insane... i seriously hope he doesn't think that this will help the sale of his shisha...personally i think he should go back and rework it a bit more.
kornkitten42
Wow... Just wow.......Thats to rich for my blood. I was having a hard time coming up with 9.00 for 150g.... There is no way i'll be purchasing that. I just can't afford it, and unfortuantely without the tastes being 100% accurate all the time i'd be afrid to get a bad batch and have 9 dollars out the door for a bad smoke....yikes man.... MNH
QUOTE (QuiltedMaple @ Jul 6 2007, 05:31 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Hmmm, 250g of Smiley's would only cost $149.99 . For $150, you could get 4200g of Layalina. Tough decision,-QMThe fax i got from the distributor was pricing the 300 gram jar for 59.95 retail..any takers?lol
aldonb1
HAHAHHAHAHAH what are they thinking.... 60 bucks for 300gram of mid-grade shisha... i doubt there are that many hardcore smiley's sexy fans.

Macho555
Bloody hell, thats ridiculous. I've only tried two of Smileys flavors, and I have to say it was hardly worth setting the hookah up for, even when the samples were free. I should hope that it was just a big misunderstanding...it sounds far too foolish to be true. Then again, I only found out about the Narghile Club thing less than 10 minutes ago, so maybe doing brash things is in the nature....
Johnny_D
Dear sweet Jesus. What is the man thinking?I like Smiley. Truly I do. He has tried todo some great things on this forum and offered the members some pritty good stuff over the years. What makes a man turn like this? The over-reaction to certain things here. The initial smiley's price rise, now this insane price for shisha. There is not a man alive who is going to pay that price. $60 for 300g's? $60 will get you 1.5Kilo's of layalina. There is no comparison.I've still got a bit of my smiley's in the cupboard. I thought it was a good first attempt at home-made shisha. I thought that smiley may have had a good product. I think different now. It's sad more than anything that someone i thought was a real entrepreneur of Nargile appears to have gone insane.JD - Sad. mushrat
Ok..let's keep it civil if you please....Express your feeling without getting insulting or vulgar. We ARE semi-civilized here after all... But ya...if that's going to be the pricing I'll probably be going for more Starbuzz....too bad, my customers DO like the stuff....*I* like the 5 flavours I carry but MAN! yashman19
Could be a marketing strategy... An odd one, but still... Every once in a while you see manufactures who come out with a product, and will charge extremely high prices for it, and many times people who see this product as being "premium", so they will pay. I say this is odd because for one, most people here have already tried Smiley's, and know what to expect already. But hey you never know, he may make a ton of money on this to all the people out there who don't know ANYTHING about hookah, and think they're getting top of the line, grade A pure uncut goods here Guess I'll never get to try out Smiley's. Oh well...Also to all the people who do have some smiley's stocked up. You could make a pretty penny selling it off to people for half the price!.......... leadpipecinch21
marketing scheme anybody? charge the ridiculous prices for a couple months, then entice people with a lower price, say $35 for the 300g's, saving 40% or so on what it was before...(uneducated) people see a huge savings like that and automatically think it's a great deal, and then smiley's rolling in the dough. Plus now there is someone else taking a cut out of the profits before it gets to Smiley. I think The Distributor is over estimating the popularity of the stuff., possible based on it's saes at the current price. He thinks Smiley was selling it Way too cheaply now he's going to correct it. A reasonable correction is one thing but....The problem with the price game like that is that is you chase away all the people who CARRIED your product, when you lower the price there is no one and no where left to market it to.But hey, the guys a professional distributor so he knows what he's doing. I hope he bothers to get back to me with a price list since he appears to be playing additional silly reindeer games with me....
ahwahoo2006
Is there even any shisha that is comparably priced? I can get Golden al-Fahker and al-Qemah for $14.95 for 250g and Starbuzz is $19.95 for 250g.

Zerodynamic
Wow, I'm lucky then... I still have 500g of smileys stuff. Guess being in the hospital with crappy tonsils pays off, otherwise I would of smoked it all by now!I would of paid the $9 for the 150g.. to me he has a couple of flavors that are pretty tasty....but this.... this IMHO, is bad business practice... practically suicide. First he shuts down the club, now he is marking up his shisha 1000%, this makes no sense. I, like JD actually like smiley, I would hope the he gets some sense back into his head. Reopen the club, sell your shisha at a reasonable price, and rejoin the community and take constructive criticism to try and improve his products. Shifty
I remember when he was coming on here saying he was working on a whole bunch new stuff, larger amounts, herbal shisha, different flavors. Then all of a sudden, drama ensues, and everything just falls apart.
