New And Buying First Hookah

Recommended Posts

There are plenty of good quality instruments out there. Both of your examples are excellent. I suggest that you get a "blowtorch" type of lighter, these are the best for lighting japanese (silver coated) coals. You should also get a spare set of fire-tongs, they sell for about $3. I prefer traditional foil, but you may wish to use the "reuseable" aluminum shield. I use the shield sometimes, but the smoke volume and quantity is less than with foil.

For a beginner, I highly recommend hookah-hookah double apple tobacco. It has a good flavor, and the smoke quality is very good. You may wish to experiment with other flavors, just try what you like.

If you prefer to use ice in your water reservoir, then you should get some ice-trays that freeze the water into 5/8" balls.

i would suggest getting the smaller one of the two. A lot of new hookah smokers dont really get into the cleaning as much as the more seasoned smokers. And a larger hookah just means more down pipe to get gunked up. Also if it comes with a nonwashable hose just use that for a few months and then toss it. If you have it might as well use it, ya know? I suggest also getting a nice lighter (I have a 2500 degree mini torch, it lights Japanese Easy Lights really well.) If you are just going to be using quicklights any lighter will work, or if you have a stove nearby just use that. As for shisha recommendations, I am going to have to disagree with cemab4y. I think Al Amir or Al Waha is the best "noobie" shisha. It is very easy to work with.

Best of luck. And don't expect your first session to be perfect, it will take a few times.

=)

I make no secret that my favorite brand is Al Fakher. I started out with it, and it's probably what's going to kill me in the long run wink.gif Very noob friendly, just use two layers of foil, poke about 10 holes with either a pin or the spike on your tongs, 3 halves of 40mm 3 Kings QLs, and you are in heaven wub.gif

I actually just got a 28" Sirius Social Smoke hookah yesterday, and I've already smoked 4 bowls out of it. It's hands down the best hookah I've EVER smoked out of, I actually packed away all 3 of my Mya's last nite because I never intend to use them again after getting this hookah. I would highly suggest you pick one up. As for shisha, Layalina is always consitent, Starbuzz is good but pricey, Al Waha is safe but gives a much stronger buzz then Layalina, Fusion is also pretty good but also pricey like the starbuzz.

awesome, so do you think there will be much difference between the sirius and the 28" i posted? the bases and stems look essentially the same.
