Egyptian Hookah Purge Question

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone I have an Egyptian Hookah, not sure what kind, but anyway, on the hookah stem it has a female thread and then the purge threads into this. The way the purge works is that if you want to purge it, you unscrew the purge thing a bit, then screw it shut when you are done purging. I don't like this. It aggrivates me. I was wondering if there was some kind of converstion to change this to the kind of purge that all you do is blow and then it seals back with the check ball (like mya) If there is nothing that is sold, has anyone made a nice looking deal for this on their own? Thanks alot.

Yes, but I won't be able to get one up till tomorrow. Most hookahs have a male thread on the stem, to which the the cap and ball screw ON TO. Mine has a female thread on the stem, to which the cap screws IN TO. The cap is solid, no holes, no balls, so in effect when it is screwed in, it is sealed. To unseal, you unscrew it.

Thanks,
Mike

My MYAs all have female threads on the stem, which the release valve (and hose port for that matter) thread into.
You may be able to get a standard MYA purge valve to work on it.

I just looked at my Mya. The stem part is the male section on the Mya (mine at least) and the cap is the female part. My Egyptian is opposite. No, I couldn't just drill a hole as it is solid metal and I would destroy the cap trying to do so most likely, the drill would walk around for sure.
I wonder why my Mya would be different than yours. Thanks.

I just looked at the hose port. It is a female thread on the stem, the purge is a male. I'll figure something out. Edited by mrmonk7663
