Will An Egyptian Stem (with Grommet) Work W/ Mya Screw-on Base?

Recommended Posts

I like this Mya base (same on as used with the Vortex I believe).

Just wondering if I got the right sized rubber grommet could I get this screw-on base to work well with a traditional egyptian stem?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I have no experience with Mya at all. I've never seen one in person. Would the threads on the Mya base impede the grommet from making an air tight seal??

Thoughts?

It should theoretically work, but as Erica said, Mya stems seem to be a little on the small side compared to other hookahs of their same size( IE: Medium mya vs medium Egyptian). I would suggest getting a base that is SLIGHTLY bigger than your Egyptian stem, then buying a grommet kit online or at a hookah shop and fitting your stem with a few grommets till it fits and until its air tight. I think that would be your best bet.

If you REALLY wanted, you could also epoxy/glue/clay the inside of the base where the threading is and then sand it out so it is smooth, and it should fit nicley.......now I say it SHOULD because ive never tried it and it is a theory. But this sounds good on paper, if you also think so try it.

It doesn't work with the ones I have. I have a pretty neat collection of hookahs, being Arab and all, lol, family buys pretty cool decorations that I use. Not fitting for me, and I don't see a way of making it fit with even a diff stem of mine. Maybe just stick to a Mya stem too?? or do a nice big bohemian glass vase =). that's my personal favorite
