sasan
hey guys I was wondering who here uses a regual lighter to light a coal. I know it must take a while and isn't as convenient as a torch lighter or a stove but those things arent available to me. I have a device my grandma gave me in Iran that helps you light coal, its a little metal basket just big enought to put a piece of semi-lit charcoal in, and and to the basket a long chain is attached. You put the semi-light charcoal in it and spin it around causing the charcoal to become better lit. here is a visual I made to help you understand:thanks guys

Ehagen8008
you can light most quick lights with a regular old bic lighter....i know you can with the three kings coals...
jaker29902
I use a lighter, but I also use quicklights so eh
aldonb1
eh I would just go out and buy a Butane torch. check out ebay, there are some pretty good deals. And u could combine the torch + basket to make the process of multiple coal lightings go faster
soujah
Definitely invest in a butane torch, you'll be able to light coals faster and avoid the chemicals in the quick light coals. They're pretty gnarly.

*HOT&SMOKING*
I usually use a butane lighter but even if you use a normal lighter for quick lites it does not take that long to lite (hence them being quick lites)-H&S

Sonthert
Zippos work very well. If you are lighting natural coals, just break down and buy a hot plate.

NonstickRon
Screw butane lighters, get a propane torch. $15 for the kit. Comes with the propane fuel tank and the torch attatchment and then propane refill canisters are less than $3 at the hardware store.Lights a finger coal held with hot-dog tongs in less than a minute.http://hand-tools.hardwarestore.com/69-407...kit-225466.aspx
