Using A Regular Lighter To Light A Coal?

Recommended Posts

hey guys I was wondering who here uses a regual lighter to light a coal. I know it must take a while and isn't as convenient as a torch lighter or a stove but those things arent available to me. I have a device my grandma gave me in Iran that helps you light coal, its a little metal basket just big enought to put a piece of semi-lit charcoal in, and and to the basket a long chain is attached. You put the semi-light charcoal in it and spin it around causing the charcoal to become better lit. here is a visual I made to help you understand:

thanks guys

eh I would just go out and buy a Butane torch. check out ebay, there are some pretty good deals. And u could combine the torch + basket to make the process of multiple coal lightings go faster

if your feeling really lazy you can light quick lites in your microwave (as long as you dont mind your microwave smelling and cheap coals may explode:P) on second thoughts dont use your microwave

Screw butane lighters, get a propane torch. $15 for the kit. Comes with the propane fuel tank and the torch attatchment and then propane refill canisters are less than $3 at the hardware store.

Lights a finger coal held with hot-dog tongs in less than a minute.

to refill butanes, make sure you unscrew the bottom thing enough and hold the lighter UPSIDE DOWN when filling, press the filling can on the bottom of the lighter firmly and once the lighter feels pretty cold stop and screw in the bottom

i had the same problem

but then i turned it upside down (cuz i finally read the instructions)
