Would this be sufficient, better then a torch ?

Woods Single Burner Stove

$19.99

Product #76-2648-8
  • 10,000 BTU
  • For use with one 16 oz disposable propane cylinder (not included)
  • Solid stainless steel grate for durability
  • Heat-resistant plastic base
  • Versatile and portable
  • Includes storage bag
You can search it at canadian tire, its just a cylinder with a stove on top. im thinking if i let them sit on it it should be sufficient. The coals i use are $20 a box even online, (canadian funds) and these are a measly $5 at the store.

I find a propane torch to work well. Propane is pretty cheap and can pick it up in most hardware stores. You can check out ebay for something like this.

http://cgi.ebay.com/WELDER-BLOW-TORCH-PIEZ...1QQcmdZViewItem

Which is what I have that works pretty well if you want to go the flame route, or as stated by another user one of these.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Portable-1000w-Electri...1QQcmdZViewItem

Both work well to get naturals started, torch better than hotplate of course. But those naturals do take some time and it isn't the easiest to get them lit with a lighter, need something with a little more butt.

If you have a local Wal-Mart.. All of them carry the same 750 watt burner for $9.00. That's what I use, and it works just fine.

Electric coil hotplates or stoves work really well (the ones that have the metal coils that get red).

That post made my head hurt, Brownman18...

To answer what I think you were asking: yes, in my opinion, an electric coil hotplate works better than a propane torch. All you do is let it get red, set the coals on it and wait until they are glowing, turning if necessary.

  • Use any place an electric stove is not available or extra elements are required
  • Perfect for student dorms, cottages, offices, camping etc.
  • Element is equipped with its own On/Off temperature control knob and indicator light
will this work for sure/ if i buy it after work?

i really dont like those coals. if you start them indoors theres a giant smell of death. the local arab market sells them at $3 a pack, and i still refuse to buy them.

i start them on the stove, i have a gas stove, takes about 5mins

So A question to the people who use the coil hot plate.. Doesn't that make the coals smoke a good deal while lighting?

no it gets em pretty quick.. naturals really dont smoke tht much when you are lighting them anyways,,
