Smoking Smileys New Recipe..

and to be honest, we need to hear of more people trying the new smileys, even though I know we will not, because when the old smileys came out most people said it was good, it wasn't until he was produceing a lot of it that the bad batches occured

Well so far this is how it stands..

Bubbleberry- Very possibly, I wouldn't pay anymore than $9 though. Comparing this to Fumari or Starbuzz, I'd say this flavor could be in their product lines... Only problem I had with this was getting the smoke thick.. Which is probably my fault because I poked too many holes in the head. The flavoring was subtle, but definitely enough.. It left you wanting a little more, it was pleasing to the tastebuds. I'll smoke it again for a more definitive answer, but as of right now I would pay $9 for 150g because it is just about premium status flavor, it had premium status longetivity.. In fact there was still orange left when I got done with it after an hour and half. Mother tried it and she's very picky and she really enjoyed it.. Two of my friends said it was very good, and asked where they could get it.. I said unless you're an idiot you CAN'T get it anymore at a reasonable price.

Naughty Cow- At the moment no way. The smoke started off with a salty/butter type taste.. It eventually got much better, with hints of cherry and other berry type flavors. It tasted a bit like Sweet Tea at one point too. Now this stuff smoked like a champ, HUGE billowing clouds.. I mean just pure whiteout smoke. It was too touchy with coals though and if burned slightly all flavor was lost for awhile. Not $9 worthy in my opinion. Not really $7 either.. Needs a little work. I might pay $7 for the clouds.

None of it is worth the new price.

We'll see how some other flavors go here today and tomorrow.

that has usually been one that had no flavor for most people and smiley even said he has trouble getting that flavor to be any good

I'll try it out this afternoon when I get off work.. That's the one I was worried about because it had such a faint smell.

Yea i threw almost half of mine away, smoked like 3 bowls worth and zero flavor, so to tell if the new smileys is actually new and improved it should have excellent flavor

I Got this right when Smiley was shutting down NargileClub and getting a distributor... So it was kind of in the process of going from his Cobalt Blue jar line.. To this new recipe/new look line. So I got these jars for $9.

There were some "problems with the order" so I just recieved it yesterday.. and that was almost 3 weeks.. I still think I should get some compensation er something. Anyone else woulda threw in some extra tobacco or coals or what not.. I don't know. I don't really care though, just the principle of the matter.

yea u r lucky on that, but like u said if u had to pay the new price for 15grams you would not, which is a shame because the smiley flavor i liked was prickly pear

I have Prickley Pear and I'm very interested in lighting that up.. Might do that today along with the peach.

So let me see if I understand your setup right.... YOU STILL HAD TO PUT IT IN THE FREEZER FOR THE SHISHA TO WORK RIGHT??????

No I didn't.. I just did it for safe measure.. It didn't harm the shisha, it just cooled it down before the smoke, it's not really that much of a hassle because I freeze my stem and bowl as long as I'm not smoking Tangiers.

Careful with freezing your bowl. It could cause it to crack (sooner).

I think there may be a misconception. I'm under the impression that there is no New vs Old stuff. The packageing is new, and the batches are supposed to be more consistant in taste and quality, but the forumulation is the same. Anyoen care to read back though the other posts to check me on that?

The rreason for the price increase is the addition of the extra mouth to feed in the food chain, the new packageing, and the belief that the old prices were just too cheap for the quality. Not due to something new being done to Smileys original recipies. Edited July 12, 2007 by mushrat

I was under the same impression Mush, I have never smoked Smiley's before this so I don't personally know. Now if it's consistancy they're stressing, I'll find out soon if they're consistant.. I'm trying to purchase the Prickley Pear and Bubbleberry off of the Trades to see if they're any different..

I can't tell consistancy on them having never smoked them before.

What I can say though is.. Perhaps the tobacco is consistant.. But if it tastes like ass then who cares about consistancy. Naughty Cow may have the same flavor from batch to batch, but if it always tastes like that it isn't worth the original $9 for 150g let alone even $3 for 15g.

Edit to GoD: Yeh, usually I throw the bowl in the fridge just to chill it.. I did have a bowl crack while smoking one time because it heated too fast. I never do this with my Phunnels, generally just with my basic conservation type bowls.. Which I convert into phunnels with the tinfoil method. Good point though, it just reminded me WHY I don't put them in the freezer anymore haha

Yeah it's easy to see why.. It does have a great taste that lasted. We'll see how the rest smoke.. I might have to light up 2 hookahs tonight with friends coming over to watch some movies.. Take advantage of the time to knockout more flavors.

Just to close this up.. I smoked the other flavors over the weekend.

Watermelon- Smoked it for 20 minutes and cleaned my bowl out repacked it with some Tangiers. This shisha is just horrid. It had a gross taste, nothing like watermelon. I was expecting something decent as the reviews have been pretty decent. Not the case. Don't waste a dime on this.

Peach- The peach flavor was there, but very faint. It was an ok smoke, nothing I would purchase just to smoke more of, but I will finish the 150g. Smoke was thick too.

Resmoked:

Naughty Cow- A little worse this time, seemed to burn real fast for some reason. Not as much flavor as the first 2 smokes.
Bubbleberry- Still thick full smoke and great taste. No complaints about this.
Prickley Pear- I enjoyed this thoroughly as well, nothing extravagant but a good smoke nonetheless. Full and warm inhales with sweet and smooth exhales.

I think it's safe to say that I will be putting a couple of these flavors away and conserving them (bubbleberry, prickley pear) as I will likely never buy smiley's again due to pricing and the idiocracy of OPD and perhaps Smiley himself. As for the flavors I don't particularly like, they might just sit on a shelf and think they're going to get smoked.
