MatthewLee
By the pics anyone know anyhting about this piece? Make/model/year?Overall I love it, it's air-tight and smokes nicely.Only drawback is the washer type piece near top is not on evenly and causes ash tray to be off level. The whole stem actually looks uneven now that I see it in pics. If any anyone knows what they call this piece...other than 'crap'...let me know please.

symptom CY
The vase is Egyptian I suppose, but the stem, hose and bowl look to be modern style. Can't really tell ya much more...

SmokeMojo
Egyptian Base, Modern Stem and Bowl. The hose looks like the ones you get with "King" hookahs. It's a chinese brand. The stem is probably from the same company. It looks nice, and the color scheme is definitely cool. The tray is also in King style.. So that'd be my guess.. It's a king stem with an egyptian base.. Kind of a hybrid.
ghostofdavid
Might be a Sultan. Did it come in a cardboard box?
MatthewLee
mojo: Thanks for the info/compliment. Glad to hear someone else likes the color scheme. Been getting the thumnbs down for the yellow/gold and brown combo. Chinese hmmm...that equals bad right???david: No, no box. Came in a hard case...I don't like the looks of it, but its functional I guess.
MechAnt
Looks like a King Mistress pipe. So it's Chinese made from aluminum. Just cause it's chinese doesnt mean its bad. i have a King pipe myself and it smokes great. No complaints. Its your first hookah. Love it, cherish it. That is, until you have an urge to buy a Mya

SmokeMojo
King makes decent chinese.. I own a screw on stem King with a small egypt base.. It smokes like a champ for being somewhat generic. It's a 2 hose as well. The hoses are identical to yours only white.. Word of warning though.. Those hoses are made piss poor. Invest in Mya Hoses or something better and it will make your experience much better... I know from first hand experience with Kings. When a hookah is chinese it doesn't make it bad at all.. For the most part, chinese are much more air tight than your generic egyptians.. They may not look as traditional but they bring some modern looks to the table. The nice thing about Chinese styled hookahs is that their parts often all screw on/off and pieces like the tray are held steady by grommets and indents in the stem. Egyptians are often a little more shakey..The one you have has an egyptian styling in a modern look. I like the amber/gold/brown scheme, very earthy and you don't see a lot of those colors often in hookah.Mya Saray is Chinese and they make some of the best quality hookahs out there.. I have a pretty wide variety of Hookahs in my collection so I've had a lot of experience with the different styles. I can say that I prefer Mya's over most others.. I have one egyptian though that is such a pure and fluffy smoke..It all comes down to What YOU like.. Once you get to know a hookah in and out.. and can make it smoke however you want it.. That's your go-to hookah and it's hard to smoke out of anything else. Often times people think they have a crap hookah because it was cheap, or it isn't fancy looking.. I'm a strong believer in.. The owner of the hookah has the most power in making it a good hookah. Unless there are obvious air leaks, bad tastes, or unsturdiness.. You've got a hookah that can smoke just as good as any other..That's my philosophy.Edit to pimp: A lot of Syrians and Turkish have modern contours like chinese. MatthewLee
MechAnt: Thanks...i'll search MYA's tonite, but for now i'm content.hookapimp: Thanks for the 411.Mojo: Thanks again man...i'll definitely take your word on the hoses. Between those and charcoal I think i've done the most research. In the end like you said though, it comes down to preference I guess. On the make tip, I totally agree about the modern construction and how things fit together precisely.Super snug piece, no leaks, larger vase then i've seen...not sure if water volume matters/seems like it might be a advantage to cooling and diffusion.p.s. anyone else dislike those hard carrying cases? *HOT&SMOKING*
QUOTE (MatthewLee @ Jul 12 2007, 07:10 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>p.s. anyone else dislike those hard carrying cases? I like hard carrying cases ( not that I don't like soft ones),because with a soft if you accidently knock your hookah badly on the wall it might break something because of the soft bag,but if you have a hard carrying case you don't have that problem, and also with yours you have a lock on it so if you wan't to leave it at your dorm (if you in college ) while you go on holiday you don't get your roommate fiddling around.Or even at a party or something. This is all beacause most hookahs break ( I Think ) beacause it is somebody els then their owner handling them!!!-H&S

HookahPrincess
i don't really find a use for cases for me since i never really carry them around, but id assume if you're moving it around a lot, the hard case would be better. as for the hookah, ehhh not really diggin the colors, but everyone has their own preferences. enjoy the smokin =)
ghostofdavid
Solution to plain hardcase:Go to thrift store. Buy sweet vintage suitcase or old timey carpet bag.Go to craft store and buy some foam.Voila! Wicked sweet carrying case.
oggie505#2
QUOTE p.s. anyone else dislike those hard carrying cases? wink.gifI got a hard case for my mya acrylic, it is a mya case and looks like the one u have. I like it, but the room in it is hard pressed to keep some shisha and coals in it. Best alternative is get a cheap case from a thrift shop or get a toolbox
Brownman18
I have one of those as well a double hosed one. I love the hoses its proven far more reliable then my egyptian which is current down and I call the egyption coal spitter… yea… the king is really nice though and because its screw on its very efficient and i find i get a nice smoke session. I just cant put ice in mine . The base is too small
