Eh, I've never really liked ebay. Whenever I go to register it tells me that my credit card number doesnt match my mailing information or something like that.

I used to love ebay until the fees started becoming too much. I can't always find what I'm looking for on ebay for a decent price, either, so I turned to amazon.com, which tends to have not only better prices, but also no fees, and typically has a better selection of goods.

HAVE TO AGREE!!!!

I mean come on ......like there is this concert here in south africa on the 20th of july and fall out boy and a few S.A. bands are playing this guy sold 2 tickets that were each worth 243 Rand: so R243 X 2 =486!

He sold them for 800 something Rand!!!!! WHAT A BLOODY RIP OFF and you can still buy those tickets from computicket for R243!!!!

E-BAY = RIPOFF ARTISTS

there are some people that can find just about anything for cheap on ebay. and not just crappy stuff, things you would expect to break the bank over. a few friends of mine are my ebay wizards, i dont know how they do it.

Ebay can be the best place in the world, or the worse rip-off on the planet. The only reason I sell anything is becasue I can't unload it locally (fees are too high anymore). I only buy from there when the price is more than $5-10 less than I would I get it locally or I just can't find it locally. And other online vendors don't have it at a good price.

Plus, I refuse to pay high shipping costs. I tend to base my recent purchases not on the ending price, but on shipping - they can and often do, rip you a new one on the shipping fees. What's the savings if I buy an item for $.01 if the shipping runs me $24.95?

Ebay has a place, but it's buyer/sellers beware.

I don't know how I would survive without Craig's List o.o I got my two custom made, white brocade sofas for $125, delivered...the BOTH of them. I've had amazing success with that site, tbh. However, I have heard that there are a lot of scams on Craig's List, as well...tho, I can't figure how I would get scammed, if I am always sure to pay in cash, for something I have already gotten the chance to test/see.

Anybody scour Craig's List?

hell yea.. a great place to get some good stolen stuff like 80 percent off retail!!! haha eg.: 1500 dollar warn winch for 400 bucks

Ebay side not: I jus don't like the knock off stuff because people buy stuff like bang and olfsen headphones from china and then go to the store and try to get a new pair when they blow out a week and start bitching when the sales associate says they are not real and he cannot help them.. wtf do you expect.. you paid 20 bucks for something that was 200 dollars.. you don't deserve any type of warranty!

The reason for this is because last I knew, ebay charges fees based on the ending bid of the item, not shipping. So sellers will charge very low bid prices and jack up the shipping costs. It's basically fraudulent to get around ebay fees, but I doubt ebay can enforce it properly.

I'm one of those people X] It's really just a matter of experience, I think. eBay has it's own language, rules, etc...you just have to get to know what youa re dealing with.

Some tips, tho...use Paypal, ffs! I mean, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that if you send someone a check, or a money order, it's super easy for them to cash it, and not send you your item (or send you junk). Read the feedback; even if it is all positive, most people will comment on whether or not the item was sub-par, or not. And lastly, as someone else mentioned, watch the shipping and handling costs. That really is where most people make their monies. Insurance, too....within the U.S., it costs less than $2 to insure a package for up to $200 (might be $500 now, I think it has changed recently). Some people will charge $5-10 for insurance, and pocket the change.

Really, tho, if you kow what you are dealing with, eBay has some awesome deals =] Just stay away from buying shisha, tobacco products are forbidden on eBay, and you can get into trouble for that.
