*HOT&SMOKING*
Okay so first of all I wan't to appologise in the beggining if I sound a bit rude or something in what my opinion is!!I just wonder with us having these discount codes, it is a privelage to us hookah forum members who have been here a little while and even a long while. And I think it is our right to have these codes as we do a lot of stuff for some companys such as reviews and recomendations, and I am pretty sure it must help their company.(So while I am at this point: Thanks to all the companys for the discounts!!!)BUT: what worries me or more annoyes and angers me is if you read a topic that someone has just started and you see that it is maybe their first post or even 2nd or 3rd and they are asking for discount codes!!!Its as if they have just registered to get a discount and NOT to actually read the topics on this forum,be part of this community or even post some things to maybe help other memebers!!!!!!!So sorry but I think that is totall BULL***T then !!!!!Is their nothing we can do to prevent something like this???Thanks....-H&S
billy
Ermmm....there's this thing for forums that you have to reply to the topic to get the links, I've seen it on some other forums. That could help?
ghostofdavid
I agree and disagree. We don't have a "right" to these codes, they are an act of gratitude given to us by vendors in appreciation for our support and business via the forum. It is irritating when people who have not contributed to the forum use the forum discounts. But, I think most people who do this are in the vast minority. This is something that is constantly discussed, but so far no one who can take the initiative to hide the discount codes to registered forum members, has done so (if it is possible with our forum set up). spoolinspoon
very true. To be honest I was one of those who found this forum and then looked for discount codes for my orders before registering. After reading a few posts I registered and now am on the forum every hour. This is definatly an awsome community. There has to be a way to hind the codes somehow. Its easily searchable through a search engine.Eddie

boomhauer
well if the codes are put in [code] tags then they will not get cached by a search engine as far as i know so they will be unsearchable technically. the easiest way to do this would be to have another forum section which is only available to active members. this way people cant just make an account and post once or twice to get the, somewhere that you have to have 10+ or 20+ votes and if people spam the forums just for codes its best not to have them
stryet
I came to this site just looking for reviews to buy a new hookah, and when I stumbled over the discount codes (after reading topics of people looking for them), I fell in love and compelled to register. I've learned so much from y'all, and I want to share my experiences too. It is really easy to find the codes, though--a google search would do it. It is really sad that nowadays people are too lazy to spend a little bit of time on some simple searching. But I haven't even used the discount codes yet, and I'm here to stay. Even the ones who don't join still get on alot to read all of our raves and rants about everything hookah, so although they may not be "contributing" they are still learning from those who are, which I think is still pretty good.As long as the retailers don't revoke the codes I really am ok with peole just getting on to find out the discounts. Allia22
I personally find the information on the forum as or more helpful than the discounts. Not that I'd like to see the generous offers from companies revoked
Skarredmind
hmm... I really don't know why people worry about this as much as they do, especially since a fairly reasonable number of the posters ususally say they came to the board looking for discount codes...Clearly the codes draw in some riffraff, but it seems a number of them become good people... ::shrug::I can understand the concern to protect the hookah places from excessive use of these codes, but there are other places online to get them... They do send new business in the direction of those retailers, which is good for business, and since the codes are the websites', if they really had an issue with them being up, I would think that it would be their complain about. Not so much ours... just my .
Rani
QUOTE (Allia22 @ Jul 16 2007, 11:08 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>I personally find the information on the forum as or more helpful than the discounts. Not that I'd like to see the generous offers from companies revoked I agree. I joined the forum before I learned that discounts were even available. I do feel that perhaps this should be entirely in the vendor's hands. Discounts are really gifts, it's entirely in their right to choose how far to take that gift. It may well be that they are increasing sales enough and building their continuing customer base enough that it's worth it to them to offer them even to those people who are here only for the discount. I'm not a merchant so that isn't my call. If they choose to offer a discount, then they should be the one setting the rules for it, don't you think? Seems like that's the way to give them the utmost thanks and respect. To use their discounts they way they intend them.'Rani

PerznPerversion
Discount codes generate business, If i had to choose between a site with a discount and no discount code id go with the discount code.Number two a shitload of hits is generated by the discount codes, and alot of the people here came in search of the codes. But they stayed seeing it was a great forum with great tips. If you get rid of the codes in my opinion activity will go down.
anathema
Most discount codes are like public information if you ask me, only a few I've seen that are sometimes specific one use or like 2 day expiration date. Google is the suspect here. I just ordered a pellet rifle using an NRA 10% discount code after searching for 2 min on google.
Scoop
if not for discount codes, i wouldn't order online. stores come out slightly more expensive with the codes, but cheaper without them.

Big Boss
I think its a little cheap, how people sign up and say "Um... Yeah... Where are the discount codes...?" Who knows, maybe they'll stick around and contribute to the forum.
