SafeSearchOff
I'll search for my map of the hookah area i really like in NYC, i posted it in two threads in the past few months.google maps these two places, dont know if it will work thoughThe Blue Nile - They sell Hookah Hookah hookahs, them edium sized ones, pretty nice, but run a little priceyThe Village Best - They sell Mya Acryllics, Bohemians, QT's, and standard egyptians, its REALLY small store but they got everything you need, along with Al Waha, 3 Kings coals, mya washable hoses, and smay valve adapters for that second hose, but everything they carry runs a markup since its in NYC, for hookahs generally 5-10%, for shisha, 2 or 3 dolalrs more.EDIT: here's the topic, a nice map is posted as wellhttp://www.hookahforum.com/index.php?showt...he+village+bestThe Blue Nile isnt covered on that map, its on bleecker st. out of view a couple blocks. 324 bleecker, you can find it on google maps for a better location, tis in the vilalge where all teh streets run screwy >.< Edited July 17, 2007 by SafeSearchOff
tsm29
In the East Village...There's a shop across from the handball courts going into Bleeker. If you stand at the handball courts and look across the street to your right, you'll see two split streets. Take the one on the right. Should be the third or fourth store down with a big indian figure in front of it. They have the best selection of hookahs I've seen in the city. $40 Single Hoses to $800 Mya's. You'll find what you're looking for.

That might be the store I'm thinking of.
SafeSearchOff
nah the village best is right there on 6th ave next to American Apparel and a dilapidated white church, about a 200ft. walk from teh store with the native american statue.
tsm29
Yeah, the Mya's are a little expensive. If you're looking for a single hose the price shouldn't be far from the internet ones.Couchies - Thats the store im referring to. clibinarius
The Arab Supermarket near Ya Hala in Yonkers sells Mya Acrylics. Don't know how pricy they are, but I go there quite often for small foods. If you're in Westchester its probably the easiest to get to, and its on 9. MAKCuMG
queens, steinway st. between 28th ave and astoria blvd.there are three egyptian supermarkets on the west side of the street (steinway). In one, (the northmost one) you will find everything you need: MYA QTs are $40....3kings coals are $12 and $17 a box, etc. In the other (middle) you will find Khalil Mamouns for $50. In the southmost one, very small store, you will find Al Fakher for $12 a box.Across the street from these three (all on the same block) you will find a meat market that sells Acrylics for $65 a piece (good price).DO NOT SHOP IN THE VILLAGE. A MYA QT will cost you $70-80. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&...c=addr&om=
SafeSearchOff
I got my QT for $60, came with hose, bowl, tongs, screen, all grommets, and with my extreme charm and bargaining skill got two boxes of 250g Nakhla added free... I dont think that its that bad.
tsm29
"Couchies" is not expensive unless you're looking for a high-end Mya. Like Safe said, you can pick up a good single hose for cheap. Bargin a bit... they might throw in some shisha.
Nexter
JUST GO TO SAINT MARKS STREET! Prices on everything tend to be a bit higher at st. marks but there is literally 6 stores where you can buy a hookah in the span of a block, so you should be able to find a good deal
SafeSearchOff
Availability is just 1 step of the purchasing process, customer service is another. At village best both men I've seen running the shop are really nice egyptian guys, looking to sell their fine wares. If you ask for a different color hookah than they have on display, or a variation of a model, even if theyre sure they dont have a variation, they will go to their basement to look at their inventory, and if its not their, they'll call the warehouse and see if they do there. Be nice to them, theyll throw you some free shisha. And the guys who work there are funny as hell. My freind bought some Afzal lemon and he was like "this is good, right?"The man replied "Yes, Yes, very good, like Egyptian pussy!"
