Best Hookahs?

Recommended Posts

Hey all

Curently on the quest to purchase a new hookah I've checked the reviews forum and not found anything to my liking. I want to know 2 things.

What are the best type of hookahs, I've heard egyptian and Mya hookahs are good but why are they good?

Secondly I have 2 hookahs that interest me and would like your feedback on them. Here they are

smoking-hookah.com/Products/Hookah/Classic-35''-Egyptian-Hookah.asp

hookah-shisha.com/store/pc/configurePrd.asp?idcategory=241&idproduct=1761

I like them both but confused as to which one to get

If you like traditional hookah go with the egyptian and if you like modern hookah go with MYA. It's up to you actually, small hookah, big hookah does not have much difference. Its how you setup the hookah that is important. I have a 10" small pumpkin hookah and it smoke like my 26" hookah. Its all in the heat management smile.gif

For MYA there is alot of accessories that you can but for example the hose adaptor which convert your single hose into two hose. [not all mya have this ability] If you are tight on budget get a MYA QT it's a good begineer set if you are new to hookah. Peace smile.gif

Thanks for all the advice and comments. I probably will most likely end up with the Mya Paragon, I had heard that Mya vases crack easily or something like that. HAve no idea where I heard that but I heard it somewhere that was really the only reason I was slightly wary of it. But the Egyptian Shishas just look so manly!!

Some people just don't like Mya. Myas are some of the best hookahs out on the market. But ezie is right, you can get a small hookah to smoke just as good, if not better, than a big hookah. And big hookahs are a pain in the ass to store.

Any reason for staying away from the Mya?

Overpriced and crappy ring any bells? There have been far too many instances where the supposed "OMG it's a Czech glass uber-vase!!!" have been poorly made and have broken in thin spots for me to consider buying one. The insides are jagged and will accumulate residue without regular thorough cleanings.

I have the Hafa, *points at pic* and I really love this thing. Lots more info on it in the review section!

My Mya has taken some serious bumps and drops and has held up like a champ.

Although I was present when the base fell out of an acrylic. Personally I use a Mya bohemian base though. Edited by jonny_lech

I personally love my Mya Vortexx it can turn into a multi-hose hookah very easily, is very easy to store in the case it comes with, and paying slightly more for a product you know you can find replacement parts for is definatly worth it.

In regards to allia's post about Mya bases I have found that the 12 or so pipes I've smoked from, none have had thin spots or been thin in any areas. All of my friends whom own Mya hookahs are very impressed with their quality and sturdiness.

P.S. I know very little about the other hookah you linked sad.gif

Ok so basically the only problem is the vase for the Mya? I particularly like the look of the Mya more than anything else, would it be possible for me to use a different vase than shown in the pic, actually I'll ask hookah shisha to see if they can help.

mya has it so good. just make it look fancy, mass produce it with crap materials and people will still buy it.

after it breaks, dont say we didn't warn you

As I understand it, the jars are attached later...there are no official Mya jars. The shanks and hoses are what Mya make. I'm only about 60% sure here.

I personally dislike three things about Mya shanks. 1. alot of them have a common chamber design that prevents you from clearing the smoke off the top of the jar. 2. I don't like the finish of the metal. 3 I don't like the metal inside them. It looks and feels like aluminum. I conclude its aluminum, but I can't say for sure. That being said, they are fairly good quality, slightly overpriced, especially the higher models, although the jars they sell do look good!

I have a 4 hose King Hookah made by Miss Nile and i usually smoke from it because my egyptian is broken atm waiting on the grommel.. IMO the egyptian is the best hookah i have ever had for smoking alone. IT looks good and stylish with a middle eastern vibe and its just such a good hookah to put ice into. The Miss nile four hoser is more narrow but the base and stem screw into each other which is a really nice factor.

All in all i couldn't not have an egyptian hookah i find its the best for hits and solo smoking.

The King hookah is good but its not as good as the egyptian i find it gives about 90% of the hits the egyptian gives me.

I also have a two hose hookah which i htink is syrian or egyptian and its nice, its looks like a hybrid between the two, i dont really smoke it much anymore, but its also about the same as the king hookah.

I'd personally buy a double hose for my first hookah so you can smoke with friends.

Issue with a mya is they can break easily and i heard can crack with ice, so i wouldnt want it as my main hookah it's a nice brand but more for the special occasions or non party smoking sessions. And a lovely decoration peace to boot!

This isn't my first hookah it's my 2nd one! I already have one I bought when i went dubai it looks like its egyptian definetly its pretty standard the cheapest thing you coudl probably get. I'm looking to get a better quality one and the Mya just struck em when I saw it but looks like a lot of you aren't fans of the Mya.

The vase on the Mya paragon is made of glass soI don't see how it could crack easily compared to others, Isn't it the acrylic ones that crack? Edited by Muhammad

i really dont know where people are getting these rumors about thin mya bases. I have a smoke-grey QT, and the base is THICK. as for ice "weakening it", i've filled the bad boy to the TOP soley with ice, then adding water to where it should be filled, and smoked it, and no cracks here. although, the smoke got super harshe since it was at that point probably below freezing.

edit: no, acryllics are nigh impenetrable i think. a store owner showed me the base of one, dropped it from shoulder height, about 5 feet, and it just bounced around like a jolly little jumping bean Edited by SafeSearchOff

I'm not interested in the Al-Fakher hookah because I've heard in the reviews section that the stem is pretty short, not too sure if that will make a difference but I don't want to take the risk.

I can only send you back to the reviews section

http://www.hookahforum.com/26-Al-Fakher-Hookah-t11438.html

The overall opinion (including mine) is that, although the stem is shorter than most would prefer, it still smokes fine. I don't want to sound like a shill for AF, but I really do think it's a fine hookah, and I 'm very happy with it. BTW, I do plan to extend the stem for a larger smoke chamber.

Do what I'm doing - special order the large al fakher with the small hookah base. mathematically theres the same amount of height between the water and top of the downstream, but the small base goes out more, its alot fatter, so there'll be more room for smoke.
