Calcartman
What do you mean? I love the grommet on the QT, its easy to seal airtight, doesn't move, and holds the base to the stem.
clickhea
my grommet keeps popping the entire stem off for some reason, it looks like its sitting fine, but keeps slipping off the base i assume iam gonna need a new grommet, pain in the butt, a screw on would be so much easier
SafeSearchOff
is your grommet or the part it fits over the stem wet when you put the grommet on? that may be causing the slipping, though, I've never had trouble with my QT's grommet...

Scheetz
QUOTE (Calcartman @ Jul 20 2007, 02:01 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>The grommet goes on the base's extension, not in the chamber of the stem (if that makes sense?)That would be correct. It stays on the base itself. Try using a strong glue to hold it down if it keeps pulling off. FYI, I do not like screw in bases. You can have an issue with them later on if the threads start to wear out. Grommets are much easier to fix.
SmokeMojo
Well fortunately, Mya screw ons fit into grommet bases as long as you can get one of their grommets. And as for why QT's don't have a screw on.. All I can say is, why isn't the sky green?
SafeSearchOff
the only screw ons for mya is the acryllic line, no? thus, QT's dont have a screw on because they are not acryllic.

SmokeMojo
The only bases they make that are NOT screw on are the etched glass and rocket bases, as of now. They used to make a lot of other bases that weren't screw on. Mya's have a very sturdy, and narrow area of threading. I'm talking maybe quarter of an inch to half an inch of fine threading. The rest of the stem port that sticks down is smooth and a normal rubber gasket can be applied to fit non screw on bases.
Sonthert
I always find a slight leak and a lot more unfixable problems with screw-ons. Gasket seals may need more maintenance, but they function better, in my opinion.
KillZedKill
I agree with Sonthert on this one, I love my hookahs, and they all have gasket seals. My base gasket has a tendency o slip off when I take the stem off, or to not allow the stem go go back onto the base if its dry. I just get it a little wet first and stick the stem on, and it seals even better then before.
