Bintang
I've been reading these forums for a couple weeks and just decided to register and post. I was introduced to hookah smoking through a friend a couple years ago, and went out and bought my own soon after. I usually smoke with my brother (roommate) and friends, but sometimes go to one of the hookah lounges around town (Dallas-area). My hookah is a 30" from southsmoke.com and other than an ordering "hiccup", I've been very happy with it. Until reading these forums, I never really had a desire to experiment a whole lot with different brands of mu'ussel and coals, but now I think I'm going to try to change some things up a bit. Need to get around to trying this Al-Fakher and Nour coals everyone is talking about. Anyways, just wanted to say hi
cypress
Welcome to the forum. You live in the Dallas area heh. Socal Smoke is located in Arlington. You might try to check them out if they actually have a store that is open to the public. What are some good hookah lounges there. I am going to be going there on a family vacation to six flags in august. I live in houston so its about a 4 hour drive there.
Bintang
They're in Arlington? Cool, I'll have to check that out and see if there's a store. Hookah lounges, lets see, the first I had been too is the Addison location of the Velvet Hookah, they also have a Dallas location on Main in Deep Ellum, but I haven't been to it. Their site is down right now, but the google maps locations are: Addison Dallas There's nothing wrong with it in particular, but to me it kind of seemed like they are capitalizing off the "trendy" aspect of hookah smoking...so in other words, not very authentic. There is also Al-Amir (I and II). I haven't been too it yet, but a friend of mine says he used to go there a few years ago with his roommate, and enjoyed it, so it's next on my list... Then there is Jasmine Market and Cafe and Jasmine Hookah Bar, they are in seperate buildings, but right next door to each other. It felt a lot more authentic than the Velvet Hookah. You can get a hookah in both, but in the Market and Cafe, you can also eat - prices are pretty reasonable. They also have a little market with hookahs and accessories, but it seemed like quality, brands, and prices are not up to par with some of the deals you'll find on the internet...but, it'll work in a pinch. It's not really a "plus" this time of year, but in addition to inside, there is also outdoor seating in back. They don't have a website or anything, but here is the Google Maps to the Market and Cafe, and like I said, the Hookah Bar is right next door. So my parents are in the process of moving to Houston from California, so it looks like I'll be down there pretty frequently...are there any lounges down there? Thanks for the welcome
Bintang
Just FYI for DFW-area people, I called up Social Smoke and they said while they don't have a retail store as such, they said if I wanted, I could place an order over the phone and come pay for it and pick it up from them in person, which would save me on shipping cost on time. cypress
There are a few but I haven not found a good one to smoke premium stuff. The most popular one is Hookah Bar but its for some one who does not know anything about smoking a hookah. Its more of a club and they play crappy music. There are a couple middles eastern restaurants that are good and you can smoke Al Waha and Nakla. Most of the time I go for the food and the smookes are good but the selection in flavors are limited since 2 apple so popular amoung the middle eastern culture.
