I allways use my windscreen indoors for just that... heat management...

It's great. Good smokin' for an hour. nice taste. you name it. Lift on & off as required!!!!

doesnt using a windcover get it too hot at times and it starts smoking harsh? the only reason i would use a windcover is to smoke indoors and not have any accidents but even then i cant smoke indoors or in the garage...stupid house rules :/

It can, yes.  Which is why you need to monitor it.

Get a coffee (Punch holes in)can or a large heater vent elbow. They work good. The biggest problem is the thickness and type of metal used to make windhoods. Otherwise, yeah they do tend to hold too much heat, I think. The nice thing about a good wind hood is that you can smoke in the rain. Very fun.
