Bowl W/ Wind Screen

Recommended Posts

My first hookah had one of these on it. The screen rusts after a while, sadly, and the wind cover is too hot to touch with your hands if you need to move it. Since I've had both, that bowl, and an actual wind cover, I can honestly say the wind cover works best. If you make a hookah purchase from H-S, they give you one. Or you can just buy one for cheap.

Or make one out of foil! (if you are cheap like me wink.gif ) and if you do make one, remember: shiny side out for a polished look!

I have both the bowl/wind cover combo and an actual separate windcover (about 7 actually, thanks H-S) That being said the wind cover on the bowl is actually a little on the unmanageable side. If you think about all the times when you place your coals just a little bit off to one side or another to manage the heat distribution, and think that that will not be possible when the cover is down, you might have an idea why it won't work so well. In most cases if you are using 2 or more coals and they have to be under that little screen, they will be touching in the middle, which is imo too much heat. As mentioned above, its really annoying because it gets hot and you have to use tongs to move it, which doesn't sound that difficult except that when you move the screen your whole bowl falls off the stem. The other thing is they are really cramped under that cover and it gets REALLY hot under there, takes alot of maintenance and rotation to keep the heat at a decent level. I would recommend just getting an order from HS and getting a free windcover, I like them alot more and they don't overheat anything due to the large hole at the top and the little ones on the sides (in most varieties.)

Hope that helps.

So i did some more lookin around and i was thinking like i could make sumthing that could be much better and the reasoning for this is beacuse im gettin the "witch" free with my new hookah and kinda wanted that to be like a thing u smoke in the car on da way there
So i was thinkin sumthing along these lines and just make my own like on the HHH It would be cheaper then the other and a project that sounds fun yet easy
What do u guys think?

That bowl really is the best idea if you are smoking inside. That way if the hookah tips you can hold in the burn marks to just your bowl and not the carpet. While its not an answer to tipping hookahs it helps with the solution.

If you have issues moving the coal around do not latch the wind screen down. wink.gif

I've had a few of these all-in-one bowls, and im really not a fan. They rust, they bend, they break, and they burn the shit out of any tobacco unfortunate enough to be trapped under it.

ive been using that bowl forever, and i dont have any problems burning shisha. im lazy, so not having to mess with coals is great for me, and if you just give the bowl a little shake, it moves the coals around so you get good heat. they start quick, and last a couple hours if you're using naturals. scheetz is also right that if you dont latch it, you can use the tongs to open it and move coals around if you must. i just smoked some x on the beach for an hour and a half and when i quit i was still getting nice thick smoke.

I got one of these a while back, I liked it, worked well, saved the new carpet we put on top of the old one many times. One gripe is that it does keep too much heat, enough so that on the bowl I had the glaze/paint started to flake off and then the bowl started cracking. With us smoking the juicy stuff like Starbuzz and Layalina, it'd leak through the sides and just cause a huge mess. Don't know whats left of the bowl now, I left it in Texas a few months ago, sure it's probably broken by now.
