Glycerin Question...

Recommended Posts

So i looked up Glycerin on CVS.com before I go out and get a bottle of my own, and I found this

http://www.cvs.com/CVSApp/cvs/gateway/deta...results.=submit

"For relief of occasional constipation. This product generally produces a bowel movement within 15 minutes to one hour."

Am I looking at the wrong glycerin? blink.gif   It says its liquid, but also to "take 1 suppository a day" which means rectal pill, doesnt it?
so wtf.  is the glycerin we add to shisha just the stuff that makes you poop?

a lot of senior citizens come to my dads pharmacey for glycerin suppositories to help their bowel movement. it greases up their anal cavity to help the poop slide out easier.

glycerin is also used to make nitroglycerin and is found in bacon fat. doesnt mean you're gonna explode if you eat it. Edited by chinamon

Glycerin, Glycerine, and Glycerol are all the same thing.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glycerol

Glycerine is used in something like 1500 different types of products, from medical and food supplies, to commercial lubricants (Machine and human wink.gif )

Also it makes things smokey. But dont add too much! It tastes like crap and it will give you a headache

Keep in mind you are looking at glycerin suppositories. A suppository is defined by wikipedia as is a drug delivery system that is inserted either into the rectum (rectal suppository), vagina (vaginal suppository) or urethra (urethral suppository) where it dissolves.

Watch "Fight Club" again. Take fat, cook it until it boils. Poor out and refrigerate. The fat on the bottom is tallow. The liquidy layer on top is glycerine. You can just collect all your old grease/fat and get some that way. Oil and grease are flammable! Be careful, for christ's sake!

Glycerin-

Like Sont said, glycerin is fat, but just part of the fat, not the greasy gross stuff you are probably thinking of. You can find glycerin in most household products, shampoos, soaps, lotions, etc etc. It is a popular item to add to a mixture to increase the volume and cohesiveness.

There are also two types of Glycerin, animal glycerin, and vegetable glycerin. Alot of the bad stuff you read about glycerin is about -animal- glycerin, whereas alot of the glycerin you find nowadays is vegetable glycerin, as in shisha.

Glycerin is also used very often as a lubricating element, as in the suppository mentioned above, and in most sexual lubricants.

Fear not friends, the glycerin we are smoking is not harmful.

you can use glycerin by adding a little bit to your older shisha that has dried up to get a better smoke.

A common ingredient in these suppositories is sodium hydroxide, also known as lye. Lye is a very caustic, dangerous substance. My question to all of you hookahers is how safe would this be mixed in your shisha?
