Calcartman
Technically anything with gunpowder is forbidden, at least on US planes. Just cause it got through, doesn't mean its allowed.
Scheetz
QUOTE (Calcartman @ Jul 22 2007, 04:13 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Technically anything with gunpowder is forbidden, at least on US planes. Just cause it got through, doesn't mean its allowed.Thats incorrect. If gun powder was forbidden we wouldnt be able to fly with our firearms and ammunition now would we. They do not have gunpowder sniffers or anything. You are supposed to claim what you are carrying. Now they are coals not ammunition so they will not have an issue. Just keep it in your luggage next time. Now, some airports do not allow you to fly with firearms and ammunition. This may be where you are getting the forbidden part. NYC is one of the places you cant. I want to say Cali also does not allow you to pass through with firearms as well.
Calcartman
Um, you cant carry firearms onto the plane anywhere.Sending coals in CHECKED baggage is fine. Same with guns, ammunition, and about 9 million other things you cant carry on.
Huskysibe
They randomly swab carry on baggage for gunpowder residue. If the machine gets a hit on your baggage its open for a search. Thats what those stations after the TSA checkpoint are. Look at em next time you are puting your shoes back on, they randomly select a bag and rub a piece of cotton type material all over it. Skarredmind
the other thing is that if it is questionable its better in the checked bag, there are rules and there is what TSA feels like enforcing that day too, like when they were giving people a hard time about eyedrops after the restriction on eyedrops was lifted.Saying I didn't have an issue so it must be ok is kinda silly anyway isn't it? I speed pretty often, but don't get tickets every day, that doesn't mean that its legal...
