Mapexdrumboi
The coals may have been a bit dodgy, and had some chemicals in which knocked you out?! Thats just a guess?!
*HOT&SMOKING*
Not sure at all could be lack of fresh oxygen. There is a doctor on this forum hopefully he will read this.-H&S

scottienl
You probably hyperventilated from inhaling and exhaling so much. That combined with getting up instantly etc... might have caused it. Some times i get dizzy and just wait a while n breathe easy
Allia22
Same thing happened to me once, but I didn't lose consciousness. Just kinda laid on the floor for a while listening to the tv... Hasn't happened for a long time, and it was only when I used those stupid 3 Eagles coals from the porn shop.
Calcartman
Never had it happen to me, but yeah, it sounds like three things were going on:1. Oxygen Deprivation2. CO Inhalation (anytime you smoke hookah, you inhale CO)3. Rapid MovementSometimes standing up by itself can give you a head rush, add that to numbers 1 and 2, and i can see your blood pressure dropping pretty quick. thecult
as aleady mentioned its most likey due to lack of oxygen to the brain. If smoke too much shisha in such a short space of time i really really light headed and need to down. also sudently standing up causing a rush of blood to the head , which with the already light headedness may cause the fainting Edited July 22, 2007 by thecult
Scheetz
People always like to get that last hit in before they stand up. Its a bad idea, as you are an example of what happens. If you do want that last hit, take it once you are already standing up to counter the effects.
mrmonk7663
When you get up quickly, the result is a decent change in blood pressure. This change in blood pressure can cause some to be dizzy almost to the point where they pass out momentarily. Couple the change in blood pressure with the oxygen deprivation, and CO inhalation from coals, that is what I would say happened.Mike

camelflage
you just overchilled, man. the above is correct, though, it has to do with o2 dep and then standing up quick. happened a bunch of times at the lounge with people who didnt smoke much. they would sit for a couple hours puffing away and then get up and either fall over or pass right out. ive even had to lay down a couple times during some of my wilder nights... calstatehookah
thanks guys alot of good information, so what is a good way to keep this from happening again? looks like a few minutes rest before getting up is a good bet for any smoker.also what type of coals are the best as far as ingredient wise to keep this from happening, someone told me all natural mesquite coal is the best, because they are all natural meaning no chemicals.last question what are the worst type of coals to use for your hookah , i think the hookah bar we were at uses roland stickcoals, (not the self lighting type) Edited July 23, 2007 by calstatehookah
SammyDDS
Hello, I understand that you have fainted after smoking. This can be attributed to the lack of oxygen you are recieving to different areas of your body. This in turn effects some of your cranial nerves, and your motor area of your brain which controls normal movement. Another thing you may not have thought about is that you should ALWAYS have a food in your stomach, drink plenty of water and replenish electrolytes to your body while smoking and after smoking, this helps satisfy your vagus nerve (tenth cranial nerve for all you future doctors) from making you vomit, and also passing out because this nerve controls much of your stomach and abdominal muscles. That is why for all you future doctors and nurses, you should always eat before you perform, assist, or shadow any surgeries. Also, your sitting to standing BP could send your body into shock, but that would not be very likely. Tell your friends to elevate your legs if you pass out next time, that will help with shock. If in fact it is. There are so many things that could lead to fainting, that I could not even begin to talk about them. So I will not cover anything else, because if it continues, I would suggest seeing a family practice doctor. You would get the same effect from taking deep breathes 4 times, and on the 5th time holding for as long as you can, then letting out. You would normally get A) Dizzy Vomit C) Faint. (DO NOT TRY IT...PLEASE)Always discontinue use and consult your physician if this is an ongoing problem.-Dr. Sammy D.D.S
DVS
It happened to me last time i went to the hookah bar in Joplin, i didn't faint, i just felt weak and had to sit down on the floor for a moment. Drank some water and 15 minutes later felt good, it was just lack of oxygen and getting up quickly. I was already light-headed so no surprise there. They were using quick lights which i don't particularly like but im sure it can happen with any setup if you don't get enough oxygen. So just chill for about 5-10 minutes after your down smoking, whats the rush anyway?
*HOT&SMOKING*
I actually remeber something like this happening to me once.I was at my friends house and we had been smoking in this closed room, with no fresh air, for about 2 hours when I got up eventually to go wash my hands after i had repacked a really sticky bowl and when I got up i Really did not fel to good and made it to the bed in the other room where I just collapsed (not fainted, just colapsed) and lay their not moving for like 5 minutes. And then I felt better again after that.-H&S

If the lounge was using a poor quality coal and the person in question was used to smoking with a charcoal that burned cleaner...that could affect it?
