dmoh7
I've seen these ceramic heads that have a creen with a flip top lid to keep the coal inplace... has anyone used these or know where to get these ... same goes for he glass heads (pyrex). Anyone know somewhere to ordere these and has anyone had experience with them?
John Deere
It seems like a pyrex head would kinda cool. You could see inside of it, and see if the ma'assel was getting gross/burnt or not. Not that you couldnt taste that, but still.
ZAP
You can buy the glass head with the glass screen at hookahcompany.com
John Deere
But are they pyrex? (too lazy to look myself)
John Deere
Wow.....that saudi arabia bowl holds 250g.....thats an all nighter there. better have a fireplace for all the coals you would need to keep that sucker going.
ZAP
Meh... that's nothing. When I went Saudi Arabia, I saw bowls bigger than my handspan. You could easy put like 750g in there. Ma'assel is dirt cheap there anyway.
mushrat
Just for the record. As you smoke a pyrex bowl it wil build up a black resin/particulate layer inside rendering it impossible to see through.
cypress
You might have to just clean it every time with pipe cleaning solution.

ZAP
lol Yeh that's actually quite silly. I pressed post reply by mistake as I was scrolling down and it actually posted. Normally it should give an error! Anyway, the screen wouldn't go black would it? It wouldn't really matter if the actual bowl darkened.
mushrat
Ya, you could clean it each time. Actually, you'd have to soak it in cleaner to get into the inside of the bowl. I imagine the screen would also have to be regulalry cleaned as well. It doesnt actually darken the glass itself, it merely builds up a black layer of crud inside the bowl. I suggest a cleaner called PurplePower. I've used it on Pyrex pipes in the past. Works great and the same solution can be reused several times $.
John Deere
I clean out my heads after each use, and besides the ones that are unglazed on the inside, they are all spotless. I'ts just a matter of wiping them out before the goo gets solidified.
mushrat
once more with feeling...the forum ate my first attempt. The problem with the pyrex bowl isn't being able to wipe out the outer bowl, it would be getting stuff out of inside. If you are lucky you can get a q-tip INSIDE the bowl to wipe around the insides. especially where the bowl inself is pushed into the head. Now, I've never had a pyrex bowl the size of a bookah bowl so it may be easier, but I have used a few glass bowls and pipes in my day... Anyone out there actually have and use a pyrex hookah bowl care to chime in? Or are you speaking from experience jd? If you are I'll hush up now... John Deere
No, I dont have one, so I guess I wouldnt know. I forgot about the inside part......I was thinking in terms of the inside of the bowl, not underneath it where now that I think of it, would be a little tricky to clean.
