XenoZ GIS
k Got this hookah- http://www.hookahcompany.com/blue_pyramid_...h_1932_prd1.htmBase has hairline cracks were the stem connects. At the point were the stem connocts its so sharp it cut through the seal. The welds were TERRIBLE theres 7 HUGE holes were it leaks. I blew through the hose to see how many leaks there were and found out they are every were.First session sucked, I burnt the shisha due to boing a noob. Sessions following were great except the smoke wasnt thick because of holes. Then today I went to smoke a bowl and the clay bowl randomly broke, fell onto tho glass table the hookah was on, broke that and put hot coal onto my leg.So What am i going to do? Im gonna buy a new bowl unless one of you guys who have like 30 clay bowls sitting around feels like sending me one (rofl m i rite?XD), and then im gonna solder all the holes and wait for my base to break. As for the bowl buy another for $3-6 or get a better bowl. Edited July 27, 2007 by Dunkel!

mtbsolo
I cant say its all that surprising when ive had my own horrid personal experience ordering a hookah from HC. I wasnt expecting a masterpiece when i ordered a similarly priced 22inch hookah around 7 months ago, but what i got was complete and utter garbage. They sent the wrong cheap ass PoS hose, an unusable, wobbly base, the wrong stem that was scratched badly, dented, and completely blocked, and a clay bowl with 2 big cracks in the middle. ZERO quality control Their customer service isnt bad and they should take responsiblity for sending you a faulty product. Certainly dont continue trying to smoke from it. I would demand a full refund, send it back, and order a hookah from another site. You'll be out the shipping cost, unless you want them to send you a replacement, in which case you should ask that they inspect the hookah first hand to see that there are no leaks or other problems with it. Sonthert
Just tell them the truth. I just called them and asked Matt, one of the owners and he said that they'd take it back if it were defective. The bowl, they won't really care about, they wholesale for like $0.40. Tell them you broke it. I think they'll do right by you.

A great company will have great people and so have great service. But at some point in time they may lose those great people and service slip. Given the chance it will cycle back up to great with the addition of more great people and useful comments and suggestions from their customers. Show them the respect to tell them the truth about their products and give them a chance to rise to the occasion. If they don't, then you have your answer and you buy from other forum vendors who do rise to the challenge of keeping their products and their services solid. I'm pretty respectful of those vendors who show their support of the forum through their discounts, and being open to suggestions. Lying to them in self-interest just doesn't sit well with me. And if you believe the whole karma thing - do you really want yet another black mark to work through next time around????'Rani
Gaara
Don't have good experience with Hookah Company as well. I bought the 26" Blue Magnolia from them and the very first time we used it, my friend held it by the stem and the base dropped off and broke. When I looked at, they didn't even send us the the proper grommets that goes on the bottom of the stem to connect with the base. The base falls off even without water if you connected it and held it by the stem. They also didn't send me the cleaning brush. Contacted them about it but didn't receive no answer. Being my first order from them, don't think I'll order any more from there. Good luck getting a replacement. Edited July 28, 2007 by Gaara
Hannibal
Yea I agree on calling up HC....they should be able to work something out. If you are willing to pay a little more, try returning it and getting one of the Mya's they have on the site.....I think they have an acrylic for $70 and a nice bohemian glass one for $80......Also there is the Khalil Mamoun Amer that alot of people have/love on the forum and it goes for $80 on HCI dont think that getting a cheap Hookah for your first is your best choice. I personally would try to get one of the better quality hookahs as to ensure that those flaws you listed will be, most likely, non-existant.Yea the hookahs I listed are more expensive, but the difference in quality is noticable and you will have a much more enjoyable experience.Oh and as for the bowl.....get a Tangiers phunnel or Super Chief from Minnesotta Hookah... I just got my SC in along with some starbuzz and all I have to say is that the bowl is awesome.....I'm going to have to shake your hand Eric when I come to SD in a few months for creating such great products . The same Mya Aryclic HC sells for $70 plus shipping sells for $40 in at the local Hookah Shops. After going to the Hookah shops around here, I found out that a lot of Hookah sites are rip offs. Many of the same Hookah's are sold at inflated prices. Authentic Egyptian shops around here sell the Khalil Maamoon for $75 and you can even try to bargain with them (goto the shop on Wisconsin avenue, DC) to make the price lower. I also mentioned those particular hookah's because they some of the best quality ones that he can get from hookah company since he has to work out what to do about his original purchase.edit:By cheap I didn't mean price..... I meant cheap quality Edited July 28, 2007 by Hannibal

I wouldn't trust any hookah somebody else had tightened the jar gasket on. If I wanted to lift my hookah by the stem and not the jar for some reason, I would tighten it myself. That being said, almost every one of my jars is tight enough to pick it up by the stem with water in the jar. I've worked many hours on them. Still, I don't lift hookahs by the shank. There is no standardization to jars and shanks, each hookah needs to be tightened separately. The hard, thin gaskets take more fitting, but the thicker, rubberier gaskets wear out a lot faster. I wouldn't trust any retailer on that score, I'll tell you. If you pick a hookah up by the stem, its your responsibility.QUOTE The higher the price doesn't always mean the higher the quality. We all got to pay our rent and our employees. The KMs wholesale around $30-$35, depending on the size. Some are more, of course. You can't buy things for wholesale when you are buying only one or two of an item. Its not fair or reasonable to expect to. As far as the Mya goes, there are enough counterfeits on the market, probably 25-35% of the "Mya-like" hookahs are really counterfeits. There's another thick percentage that I've personally seen where Myas and non-Myas are mixed so that the Mya logo gets distributed across the hookahs (on one piece each). So one part is real (and expensive) and two other parts are counterfeits (and cheap). If you buy a name brand (although why you would, I don't know), you might want to address why the price is so low, are they selling you genuine articles? Buying from a big, established retailer gives you some semblance of security...maybe not... Edited July 28, 2007 by Sonthert

olooko
I'm sorry to hear that. I got my first hookah from HC, and had very little problems with them. Sure my stem welds were a bit ugly, but all the funcitonal welds were there for mine. When i called them about my leak, they replied and told me how to repositioned the gaskets (being a noob, i didn't know how to put them in).Overall I it worked out. Just send them an e-mail and they should respond. They did for me. Good luck guy.
