Nakhla...washed Or Un-washed?

Recommended Posts

I noticed that the 50g boxes say washed but the 250g ones I have don't.
Which is true?

I just got done with a session of Pistachio (big box) and I felt ill pretty much right away...15 minutes latter I yakked. :~(
I've smoked Cappaccino (big box) and never had this problem.
Any hints?

I'm pretty sure Nakhla is unwashed...but I don't know for sure.

That really sucks about the yakking, but I understand it with Nakhla, I've had bad experiences too.

Pistachio I feel is best mixed.

The Egyo grocery hasn't had it in a long time. I think I use to mix it with apple and it was damn good.

Thanks for everyones feedback!!!

I see now why the Cappucino 'El Basha' was so mellow...makes sense if its washed @ 0.05%
Weird thing is, I have tried other molasses at the 0.5%/unwashed level and never gotten sick, let alone much buzz.
King Moassel says 0.5% not sure on the Al-Waha I tried.
Is Nakhla just way stronger? Obviously so I guess. Edited by MatthewLee

Unless they changed recently (Boooo! Hsss!) Nahkla is unwashed.

They may have changed.
On their new 50g boxes it says 0.5%...matching Layalina, which is washed correct???
My 250g Nakhla boxes have no such denotion though.

Tobacco processors have a choice when preparing their tobacco. Either to wash their 'baccy or not. Washing it helps to remove a lot of the raw nicotine in the tobacco therefore, unwashed tobacco has a much stronger nicotine buzz than washed brands do. That is the most noticeable difference. To me, I can taste the tobacco a little more in the unwashed versus the washed. I suppose that's why I like washed a little more, because of the stronger taste, but sometimes I do smoke for a buzz and cant keep away from my unwashed!

Nakhla is definitely un-washed. Usually washed tobacco contains ~0.05% nicotine, while un-washed ones usually contain 0.5%, with the exception of Tangiers (0.3%). When I'm smoking alone, I prefer un-washed tobacco, just because of the headache I get after a while.
