MechAnt
So right now I have Pharaoh's Golden Guava and Layalina Blackberry. THEY ARE GIVING ME VERY LITTLE TASTE!I've acclimated them for abou 3 1/2 to 4 hours each but still, there is little to no flavor. I get quite a bit of the tobacco flavor but little guava or blackberry. Only AFTER the session and a lot of exhaling can I taste SOMETHING. Like I said before, most of the taste is tobacco and is kind of sickening to me. Especially because I used to smoke and quit when I started hookah and have pretty much abstained from cigarette smoking and ever since, the tobacco (not flavoring of shisha) taste has been revolting to me.My setup is a 21" two hoser, new hoses, medium phunnel with mod, and starting with three japs before adding a fours about 20 min in. If that doesn't do anything then I don't know what to tell you.
racemyghost
Off topic (sorry!) but when you say acclimate the shisha, do you mean you let the shisha be exposed to air for several hours before storing it away?
Big Boss
Yeah, exposing it to the open air for several hours, stirring it up occasionally.
racemyghost
why would you do that though? what kind of benefits are achieved through that process?
stryet
Acclimating lets the tobacco adjust to the relative humidity and helps it smoke better. After acclimating though, you want to keep your tobacco airtight to maintain freshness.
Calcartman
Clean your hookah, pack the bowl fully, maybe add coal.hows the smoke been? if it could be thicker, add a bit more coal.
SafeSearchOff
im not sure why, i may not have good taste buds or it may be the way i inhale, but hookah has always only given me *moderately* good flavor if you just stick it in your mouth and inhale.i find that if you press the tip of the hose against your cheek and put your toungue next to the hole...burst of flavor. MechAnt
The smoke I get is amazing. The phunnel and mod have given me smoke like never before. Last night, there was definately more flavor than what I've been getting lately but I'm still afraid of some inconsistency. I'll try acclimating it a little more tonight but the shisha has gotten fairly dry from my last acclimation...
Sonthert
Yeah, the shift in weather played nob with tobacco down in San Diego, too. Acclimation may be the answer.
