Hoses Included With Mya Hookahs

Recommended Posts

The title says it all:

Are the hoses included with Mya hookahs of the washable variety or not?

Forum wide search revealed nothing except talks about the washable Mya hoses but not directly about the hoses included with the hookahs.

I understood them to be technically not washable. But I think a thread from MushRat last week was saying that you could use his plastic ketchup-squeeze bottle idea to squirt lemon juice/water directly down a Mya hose to rinse the inside of it out, without getting the whole thing wet.

well the thing is they are "washable" but they do contain a metal coil inside of them so it is a good idea to replace your mya hose every say 6 months.

Why replace it every 6 months, I have a 2 year old mya hose, been washed tons of times, and its still good. I have taken apart a mya hose that was over a year old, and not signs of rust. What happens is some people might not dry their hoses out enough and that will create the oxidation

well i had a mya hose, the basic one that comes with the MYA QT, well i washed it maybe 3-4 times for the year and the thing started having rust specs come out of it, i dried it the best i could with leaving it hang out in the hot weather and somewhat swinging it to get the water out... it still rusted, now i bought the plastic hose and Nammor Hose from hookah-shisha and now im set!

this is true.. most people leave them wrapped around the hookah and they do not air out properly

Ok, sounds good. Thanks guys.

I really should get into making my own hoses. Can't find the right tubing tho sad.gif I can only find 3/8 in. tubing that is meant to replace the water tubing in freezer ice makers. Corrugated hoses are a little harder to come by and I have no idea on howto make those end pieces sad.gif

get yourself a cheapo hose, cut off the ends, and just use some straight, non corrugated vinyl tubing. rinse the tubing under hot water, and push it on to the ends of the old hose...it works like a charm...far better than any hose i've ever used(but that's only a couple myas, no names, and this thick rainbow one that came with my hookah)

MYA hoses are washable.

Now the question about will MYA hoses rust... If you thin about it, any hose will rust, its just a matter of time and luck. Some will rust earlier then others, so might last a few years. It depends on moisture. I have washed my hoses over and over. If you let it dry out correctly without letting the metal be exposed to water for a long period of time, then you will be ok.

I don't agree with that, entirely. If you get steel wet, it rusts. Simple chemistry. Myas have their metal wires either coated with plastic (either an external framework or like a plastic baggie approach). There were some old Syrian hoses I used to get at this distributer who isn't in the hookah business anymore, the hoses were constructed poorly, fell apart frequently, and the head and stem pieces were generally ugly as hell, but the damned wires had to be stainless steel or some other rust-proof metal. Looked like a normal hose, but no rust. How fuckin' hard is that for these guys to master? You don't plastic coatings...just use better metals in the wires.
