Ocrap
I set up a bowl of Al Fakher Apple yesterday at around 4pm, foil and everything in my small phunnel with scalli mod. I figured I was going to smoke it in an hour or two. Anyways, it was 7pm and I was so tired i passed out on my bed. I just woke up around 4:30. So it's been acclimating for a little more than 12 hours now and I'm not considering smoking it untill maybe 5pm today. So that's like a 25 hour acclimation period. My question is, is that too long of an acclimation period? Will it still be smokable?
Johnny_D
Should be fine.I've never heard of anyone over-aculmating tobacco! However i would now suggest that you seal it all up to ensure it remains fresh & moist JD
Ocrap
Good idea. What do you recommend? Another layer of foil? Or saran wrap?

I just put an unpricked layer of foil over the pricked layer of foil.Edit: I just added some saran-wrap too and rubber banded it. Thanks for the help. Much appreciated. racemyghost
if you're using a phunnel, dont flip it upside down. The tobacco juice wont run anywhere right side up.
Sonthert
Well, not for too long, the juice will run out the holes in the bottom...er top...you know what I mean. 20-30 minutes upsidedown just before smoking should be sufficient.
Ocrap
I decided to smoke it this morning. It was okay. I don't think I did that great of a job with the setup this time anyway. I lost flavor about about 1hour. I don't think that it was from the acclimation. I just did a poor job setting it up. Oh well, I'll have a better bowl tonight. Thanks for the advice again. Much appreciated.
Sonthert
As a side point, if you are using a high-water tobacco, and I can't say I know what Al Fahker is, my guess is its pretty high, but it will dry out and smoke for shit, especially if the weather is dry there. SafeSearchOff
al fakher is pretty moise, but not a high-water tobacco i would say like tangiers, layalina, or al waha.
Sonthert
QUOTE (SafeSearchOff @ Aug 2 2007, 03:33 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>al fakher is pretty moise, but not a high-water tobacco i would say like tangiers, layalina, or al waha.Actually, Tangiers is about 10-12% water, by weight. Al Waha seems middle of the road, layalina seems very high-water content. There's a big difference between high water content and a tobacco with lots of liquid. If you look at Tangiers liquid, its very thick and viscous.
SafeSearchOff
woops, my bad. i just meant in terms of liquidous content. tangiers, al waha, nad layalina gots lots of juice, al fakher has a nice amount but is not "swimming" so to speak as much as the afformentioned. SafeSearchOff
maybe its just the flavor I got then. my rose doesnt really seem "dry", but its certainly not super wet. either way it smokes super good...
lilbrownindian
to be honest all of my alwaha has been drier than my al fakher, ive had one box i think once, maybe 2 years past production date which was dry.
Big Boss
My $.02... The only thing you really have to worry about is the shisha itself drying out, although I don't know how long that would take.
