That should be fine, as long as you weren't inhaling the fumes. I remember that post, it looked pretty cool with dry ice in the ice chiller. But I gots to say na-nay-no to dry ice in the water. As brutal as it would look, it would be more brutal to your lungs.

it would be really cool to keep dry ice in your hookah bag though. its like you go to someones house and you like "lets hookah!" so you unzip the bag and *fssssshhhh* smoke comes out, and everyones like, oh shit, this hookah must be awesome.

on topic though, like everyone said. inhaling toxic fumes cant be too good for your health, right?

Air + bad things is ok. CO2 + bad things and a little air = Oxygen deprivation = Brain Damage = Teh deaths.

Edit:
Now, if you could some way manage to isolate the solid CO2 inside the base (preventing sublimination), that'd be safe; or diverting the sublimed CO2 out of the chamber would work too...but that's a lot of work.

Use ice. Edited by JonDubya

I love how you guys talk about CO2 as though its some horrible toxic chemical. I hope you realize that you exhale CO2, and you drink it in carbonated beverages, and there's some of it in the air at all times. Whenever you feel the need to breathe, it's because your lungs have too much CO2 in them- it's the indicator.

That said, it's still pretty dumb to use dry ice in the base. It would probably just make you feel like you needed to cough / breathe heavily. Putting it in a chiller might be a neat idea though, since dry ice is so much colder than regular ice.

Inhaling CO2 is not the best of ideas...I do not suggest trying it...it can cause hyperventilation, increased chances of panic attacks, hypoxia, and distort you bodys core temperature...Not to mention it adds to global warming smile.gif But I must say...It will NOT KILL YOU. Unless of course you are an idiot and inhale the CO2 bottles. We exhale CO2 everyday.

get a plastic bag, put it over your head and start breathing in and out. you will die after a while for one due to lack of oxygen, another due to too much co2. ill ask my repertory therapist parents in a bit what it will do, none of the e-doctors or real doctors can know any better than someone who specializes in the lungs

sorry for the double post. called them up and they said yes is is detrimental to your health.

co2 has a much stronger bind to your blood and more specifically the hemoglobin then oxygen does. due to that you can not exhale the co2 once it is bound for a while. the more and more co2 you inhale the less and less oxygen can bind to your hemoglobin bringing oxygen to the rest of your body. after so long you will pass out and possibly die as even after you stop smoking you will not be able to get oxygen to bind for a while so again lack of blood to your body. so do not try to put it in your base directly due to possible death

try it out if you want, if we hear back from you we know its fine or you came back from the hospital. if you dont reply we know not to try it. honestly get some dry ice, put it in that and see what happens. if nothing leaks and you are positive feel free to try it. just dont put loose dry ice in your base. now if you really want cool in an external cooler put in liquid nitro wink.gif (kidding of course)
