SafeSearchOff
even attempting to put in liquid nitro wouldnt work. it looks super cool in movies, but the boiling point of liquid nitro is just way too low. as you poured it into an external cooler it would just start evaporating as you pour... SafeSearchOff
at that level of coldness though, wouldnt that just cause hte smoke to be so uber dense its also uber harsh?
boomhauer
no clue but you could say you had the coldest smoke possible.

Big Boss
I don't think my lungs would be very happy with me, if I breathed through a hookah that was that cold. Besides, it'd only a matter of minutes before the cold air in your lungs would cause you to become cold.

Pretty much the coldest substance on Earth (I may be incorrect, but I dont think anyone can prove me wrong)
JonDubya
Was a joke...plus the "safest" of options since we CAN breathe pure O2.

Sonthert
CO2 is an asphyxiant. That is, it displaces oxygen you need to live from the mass of gas you inhale. We've evolved around our lungs working on about 21% oxygen. That being said, I think you would pass out and then start breathing again, but you could suffocate, if the conditions were right and some people might stop breathing and not start again. Pure oxygen is extremely poisonous, ironically.
SafeSearchOff
what about on the ISS? dont they live in a pure-oxygen environment?
Sonthert
Low pressures, I think they're at like 250 torr, .33 atm. Its at higher pressures (like above 380 torr, .5 atm) that oxygen actually corrodes (burns) your lungs. Edited August 2, 2007 by Sonthert
xian
boomhauer - are you thinking of CO (carbon monoxide)? I am pretty sure that the majority of CO2 exists as bicarbonate ion in the blood, and only a small amount is bound to hemoglobin (at a different site from O2).Still not a good idea to inhale a lot of CO2 though.I'd think jury-rigging a bottle like this one would work since the dry-ice would be isolated. Would be fun to try.
boomhauer
nope im talking carbon dioxide. my parents have worked around the stuff for years and no their shit about the lungs as that is their specialty.

blueyesopn
i think we all agree it is bad. so could it could crack the base, carbon dioxide poisioning, freezer burn. all horable things, i don't think it would even help your smoking enjoyment. you would be inncreasing presure in the hookah, causing the regular smoke, wich is mixed with regular air to be pushed out the carb, since it is less dence then pure co2
SafeSearchOff
okay, so dry ice as a chiller has been ruled out, as it is every couple months. lets review something never seriously discussed.using dry ice where you store your shisha, like in your cabinet... so every time you go to pack a bowl some smoke rolls out of the cupboard or closet or box, making a ncie dramatic effect. that could do wonders for morale... schouvler
QUOTE (grim @ Aug 1 2007, 12:09 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>has anyone tried it in there base,id think the smoke would be really smooth and coolwrong i have done it with both vodka/dryice and water/dryice. Dont try it, its like inhaling sprite. Its like little bubbles on ur lunges u get a big buzz but it aint worth it, may cuz its too cold idk but its not too much fun, but awsome in a chiller. az1z
i dont think that is a good idea for many reasons, which are stated above, id like to add another reason. once the dry ice starts to "melt" your gonna start building pressure in your base. if you have a purge valve or even when your not smoking. the CO2 will be forcing its way out. weather it be from your head, or or hose. CO2 mixing with your shisha and carcoals cant be good for them. (i believe)lolz, first post. Edited July 29, 2008 by az1z

liquidglass
QUOTE (SafeSearchOff @ Aug 1 2007, 04:51 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>it would be really cool to keep dry ice in your hookah bag though. its like you go to someones house and you like "lets hookah!" so you unzip the bag and *fssssshhhh* smoke comes out, and everyones like, oh shit, this hookah must be awesome.Lol that would be awesome to throw in my hookah trunk where all my shisha is, pull the whole iron man thing with the self contained cooled beverage container. And to everyone that is saying "you exhale C02" very good, you passed 5th grade science class, but exhaling and inhaling are much much different.
