Ash In The Hoses?

Recommended Posts

Hey whats up everybody. First post so here goes.

We have a little MYA hookah and for the longest time we have been having problems with ash in the hoses. Sometimes when we take a pull we'll get chunks of ash all in our mouths.

We've tried simply blowing through the hoses and blowing water through the hoses. We have to blow water through the hose every single session otherwise we will be chewing on chunks of ash.

Any help or input would be appreciated.

Thanks

its normal for there to be some crud to build in the hoses which you will inhale from time to time sorta. H-S sells some filters you add to your hose to catch this. smack your hose on the ground then you use a simple cheese cloth and inhale as hard as you can about 4-5 times. and this will catch all the crud and you can smoke without any of it.

Hehe, secret tips like throw it out? It's what I had to do to my Mya "washables." Save the ends but remove the hose part, you can make a supa-sexy vinyl hose with wood and metal ends.

When's the last time you gave your stem a serious scrub down? I had this problem one time - and only one time. I discovered the hard way my up-until-the-mouth-full-of-ash quick cleaning method just wasn't cutting it. There is a certain amount of oil in smoke (vaporized glycerin) that causes the residue to build up inside the stem and it doesn't rinse out with only hot water plus whatever. If you don't seriously scrub it with the brushes it's going to build up and chip off during smoking resulting in what seems to be granules of ash. Now it gets scrubbed every single time I smoke it.
