boulderkid303
Hey everyone-Tangiers or not, I smoke everything out of my phunnel. What I would like to know is how everyone packs theres without the mod and non tangiers in it.What is your hole placement like and do you have a hole or holes over the middle area (big hole in the phunnel.) Thanks.
leadpipecinch21
if i'm smoking without the mod i do the same hole placement as i do with the mod(8-10 semi-large holes over the middle of the shisha) and 2 pin sized holes right over the center hole. works well for me, but i'd say 90% of the time i use the phunnel i'm using the mod, so... ASUSEAN1
1 ring of holes around the outside of the bowl (about a 1/4" away from the edge).. usually jus use the poker from the tongs and then 1 hole in the center. I leave a space between the tobacco and the foil
KillZedKill
I like to use a lot of wholes, mod or not. Get one of those thigns used to hold corn on the cob, you know, with the two or three needle type things on it, and use that a couple times around the foil! mushrat
Killz: thats a cool Idea...never thought of using a corn holder...I put two rings of holes around the outer edge, no honeover the central hole. Dont want and air going from the coals straight down the center...diverts it from going through/around the shisha. Just my personal method of course. pboyle
Haha, I use the corn holders too!I poke that maybe 8 times around and then a hole in the center.I'll have to try it without a hole in the center though. It could make a difference.
aldonb1
i poke mine in a + style. I'd say an inch width for each line of the +. I drop 4 jap coals not over the holes but over the corners of the +. (I'd say about a width of 5-6 holes, no idea length.)
Sonthert
I use any oyster fork and poke about 120 holes across the top, over the phunnel I poke a flower shaped 6-9 hole arrangement.
SafeSearchOff
2 concentric circles. the outer pretty closely spaced, the inner more spread out.
newsman
Two concentric rings, and I use a fondue fork...
Sonthert
I've been thinking of using an apple corer and making multiple, wide circular holes...I wonder how that would work?
mushrat
sonthert, you put holes over the central hole in the bowl? I read that right?
Sonthert
Yes, it mixes more air with the smoke. I use more holes over the phunnel than anyone of my friends. Bill and Chase both use no holes over the phunnel, Tess just pokes holes normally, so about 3 or 4 get over the phunnel. I like 7-9 holes or so, over the phunnel, specially poked. I poke holes all around the outer areas of the phunnel and then come back to do the center ones.
mushrat
hmm..ok..i'll give it a try., i just figured it would divert air flow from the areas that actually have coals and tobacco in them.
SafeSearchOff
wouldnt that effectivle thin the smoke, making it less thick? or is the small amount of air let in negligible?

Scoop
lol. eric's bowls produce mad clouds. its almost impossible for me to see a difference whether i poke holes over the center or not.

The draw will be harder, too. A ring of holes around the outer edge of the phunnel will mix more air and holes above the phunnel will mix even more air and make the draw looser. You can also user weaker holes (smaller) near the center to mix a little more air. In short, holes around the outer edge are smoky holes, holes by the or over the phunnel loosen the draw and mix more air in.
