chinamon
ive never split any coals before but i read somewhere that its easiest to score it with a knife then snap with your hands.
Muhammad
The coals I'm using are called swift lite charcoal members.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewUserPage&userid=charcoaltabletsIt's not possible to split them in half with my hand, what coals are you using? newsman
Exactly. I use a serrated steak knife to score it and bust it in two. Works like a charm.
racemyghost
if its a long finger coal, i usually break it in half with my hand just to ease the lighting process. Once its glowing red, i use my tongs and break them in half again which leaves me with a total of 4 pieces. If it jap coals, they are already scored. Snap them apart prior to lighting. SafeSearchOff
race, not to attack your or anything, ill try to make this as neutral as possible... but why are you always promoting the Canary Goldens. Yeah, they work like a charm, but are pretty expensive per box. even the chinese knockoffs of the jap coals are great, and a few people prefer them more. Me myself i havent always been a big fan of knockoffs of anything, but the quality of chinese jap coals is good, nothing to complain about, and are alot cheaper. Scoop
I was going to say the same thing. the jap knockoffs are definitely good for the price.
boomhauer
i dont see a problem with race supporting golden cannary coals, i personally love them and tell people to get that or nour coals. its like other people asking what coals to use and people say 3K really its no different. SafeSearchOff
im not condemning race and i dont have a problem with him supporting golden canaries. its like how i love nours and 3k's. but i dont get why he is always swaying people from buyign chinese knockoffs, as they are much cheaper and just as good. boomhauer
more people who buy from knockoffs the more that are put into production which is less money the true company makes which is less of a profit for them which can cause them to shut down possibly. also if people buy more knockoffs then they see there is an even bigger market for them which causes more to be made which can be of lower quality so more health risks on top of them just flooding the market with cheap makes. blueyesopn
knockoffs are not necesarly as good. you have to be carfull. i have had knock offs that just tast horable, or are hard to light and stay lit. as what country they are made in, it should not matter. if they do a good job, they do a good job. if there quality starts to slack buy more expensive ones

Reason I always tell people to get the real stuff is because ive had horrible experiences with the knock offs. For example, coal taste in shisha (and yes, it was glowing red and no silver paint left), damn thing caught on fire on the bowl for no reason, one went off like a fire cracker...never had these problems with the Canarys. symptom CY
I see a huge difference between the Canaries and the "Easylites" -- actually, the only way they are similar is in shape. I've gone through almost a whole box them and never had a smoke where they didn't impart a strange texture and coal flavor to the smoke. They burn a little too hot for me, too. Out of all the coal I've tried -- Stargate, Bulk Natural, Coconut, Golden Quicklite, Easylite, Nour -- and I'd much rather use 3 Kings when I can't afford Canaries. And I never can afford them... they're way too expensive.

I dont know what the canarys run online but a local middle eastern market sells the canarys for $10 (96 pieces i believe)
