Ok, I have actually smoked hookah with dry ice in the base. The water didn't freeze because we didn't put excessive amounts in. When trying to smoke, all you didn't have to inhale at all. The Co2 gas came rushing out of the hose. Even when trying to smoke, you only got a mouthful of Co2.

Yeah, it would make sense since dry ice CO2 has a higher vapor pressure than water...it would be better to go the other way, find a liquid that is safe for people that has as low a vapor pressure as possible.

Maybe they used CO2 to cool down the vase and stem etc.. You know how when you get that keyboard cleaner and turn it upside down and spray it and it is super cold? Maybe that's what they ment by CO2. Just a thought.

Well technically we breath in CO2 all the time so it shouldn't really kill someone. When you light a fire your breathing in co2, exhaust from cars, etc. I think you guys are thinking about carbon monoxide, which can kill you.

Cars produce carbon MONoxide or CO. That is what kills a person. Carbon DIoxide or CO2 is exhaled by the human body every breath we take. The only reason why CO2 would be bad is that if you inhale too much CO2, your body is not able to absorb enough oxygen and exhale enough CO2 which would rase the CO2 Levels in your body.

its friggin pakistan, were would they have the resources nor money to buy that much dry ice for all those hookahs, seeing as a cafe usually has hundreds.

yeah but u dont directly take it in like out of a hookah base, people commit suicide like that with their car running in the garage and just sit in it.

Well people weren't getting sick or dying in that lounge, so how exactly did they get that smoke cooled down so much then? I remember it emitting lots of gas and I'm pretty sure it wasn't simply ice.

CO2 (dry ice) is used to send perishable packages around the world because the only thing that will "melt" it is exposure to air, which also causes it to smoke or vapor. You mention it emitted a lot of gas so I'm thinking somehow they didn't have the dry ice in the water itself or it wouldn't have been exposed to the air and turned to visible vapor.

I'm pretty sure car exhaust and lighting a fire is carbon monoxide, which can kill you.
Which is why people are sent to hospitals when being pulled from a burning building.
And why your car has an inspection sticker. So it meets certain environmental requirements.
