shisha storage

Recommended Posts

Some people say to put it in the refrigerator, but I have had bad, bad results from that. Room temp is good and usually the tub/jar/can it came in is good. If tye lid fits loose use a zip-loc then. You're on the right track.

One thing I started doing recently is saving my empty tubs (the ones that are quality. Al Waha make some good tubs, as well as Hookah-Hookah. I just save them, clean em real good and whatever I need to put in there, I cut its label off the box and tape it to the empty tub. Then I stick the massel in the tub and maybe thow in one of the humidifier "coins" alen sent me, and there ya go.

i use ziplock boxes. i like how its airtight but not as messy as a bag,
i dont like the al-waha or sultan tubs, they havent been airtight, or
even watertight for me, an al waha tub on it's side leaked out all the
syrup once

In my experience, refridgerating hookah tobacco will significatnly
change the tobacco. When I stored mine in the fridge, after a while I
noticed that the molasses was being seperated from the tobacco, and it
was just eventually turning hard and lost all of its flavor after a
while.

Room temp should work the best, and like said above try to make your tobacco air-tight.

I used to refrigerate some occasionally. Although found it useless after a while. (if you do refrigerate, make sure you allow it to get back to room temp before use).
I have found leaving it in the original box to be by far the best route, and not allowing it to dry out. So as long as it's not exposed to air, it should be ok. The fakher containers are not perfect but are fine. The Romman ones tend to dry up the tobacco in my opinion, but nothing drastic.
Even the Qema and Golden fakher boxes which are rather peculiar are still ok, as long as the bag is rolled up inside.
Just keep it in it's original container, and if it comes in a foil type bag, then simply roll down the bag before you close the container it came in.

hiya all. i have been a regular pipe smoker for a few years and have recently been looking into getting a hookah. but on the topic of the thread one of the tricks i learned with my pipe baccy is useing mason jars to store my baccy, you know the jars your mom or gram used to can food in. they have an airtight seal and they are glass so when you finish a baccy or shisha in this case you can rinse it out and store another flavor in it without the flavor of the last one effecting it. plastic has a way of holding flavors.
anyhow this is a cool forum you all have here and i will be spending some time here learning what i can while i wait for my new pastime to arrive..

quick question when storing shisha tobacco. if you keep it air tight, room temp and in the shade how long on average will it stay good? as i said before i am a briar pipe smoker and with that tobacco if you keep it air tight and in the shade it will get better with age but i am assuming shisha being made with molasses wont keep very long.
the reason i ask is because when i started smoking briar pipe i got a good case of what the people on the pipe smoking forum call TAD ( tobacco acquisition disorder) and within a month of starting pipe smoking i had around 5 pounds of different tobaccos. if i enjoy the hookah as much as i do the pipe, and i am betting i will, i have a bad habit of trying to get every flavor from every maker i can get my hands on just to find what i like, i am down to 2 or 3 main baccys on my pipe with 4 or 5 others that i enjoy from time to time, but i don't want to get a pile of shisha and have it go bad before i can smoke it.
thanks in advance....

Depends on when the store actually gets it in and how long its been
sitting on their shelves. But I think its safe to say that assuming you
buy shisha thats been shiped straight outta the factory, kept
air-tight, stored at room temp, some will last a year or so.

I'm sure different brands will stand up to the time better than others, but roughly around a year and +.
