Recommended Posts

ok i got a new hookah,my first one,and i have yet to get it to smoke,i put water in the base, about 2in above the stem, pack the bowl almost to the top,and not to tight, stick the screen on top ofthe bowl light the coal, wait for it to stop smokin, put it on the bowl, wait while tryign to get the shisha started, and still i get no smoke, and if i do its really harsh and ther is none, i have two possible casues

1,is the screen supposed to fit completly around the bowl, cuz it doesnt go all the way around

2.i think the coals it came with suck, there some cheap no-name quick lites

i cant think of anything else, all i want to do is freakin smoke

Grim!...I am also new to hookah but soon found out a few amazing tricks! Try this...

1. pack your bowl with loose shisha ONLY 1/4" from the top of the bowl

2. use foil and not the typical screens they sell on the net and poke holes in it from the center out in a pinwheel fashion as many posters have shown on this forum.

3. Use 2 coals with a large bowl. I prefer and love 3-kings because they are quick lighting, last for about an hour and have NO flavor!

4. ONLY put about 1.5" of the stem into water.

5. Smoke slowly from the side of your mouth (only because I have found to get more of a flavor from the shisha for some reason smile.gif

6. Rotate the coals every 15-20 minutes.

This is my technique and I get amazing flavor and smoke everytime! This forum has many great answers and this information is all over it!

Good Luck!

as mentioned, packing could be a cause. over packing just shoves every thing together,. and it ether just sits there or burns.

you also should check for leaks. set up your hookah like normal, but without a bowl. look at the carb on the stem oposit to the hose port. cover the top of the hookah with your hand, and suck on the hose. is air getting though some where? if it is, remove your hose, and plug one end with a finger, and plow into the other end. if air comes out, it is the hose. if not, ruck directly on the hose port, again covering the top
does it still leak? look for the sound. if it is coming from the carb, open up the carb, and check the ball barring. if the ball barring is not there, replace it with a plastic air soft pellet. if it is simply dirty, or lodged, then clean it. if it is missing, get some saran wrap and plug the hole temperarly. if the leak is coming from where the vase meets the stem, get a damp peace of paper towel, and fold it hot dog style a few times. wrap it around the connection. do this for any other leaks.

other then that
