MR Bubble
Just as cypress told you. Don't talk about the unsmokeables here. Good Night. MR Bubble
cypress
Thanks. I just thought my suggestion would have been a fair warning. Oh well.
NERV
perhaps we should pin a FAQ/rules topic including this.
cypress
I was thinking the same.
NERV
But what else to include? Many hookah FAQ cant just be solved with one answer since the person might not even know what they are doing wrong, discussion is best for that. But, we should lay down some rules. I'm as much for freedom of speech as the next guy but we should expect at least some level courtesy, maturity, and common sense. A few simple rules could be the difference between a friendly online community and a degeneration down to the level of the Robotech.com forums(trust me, they're bad). We should go over this all with adrock to make it official, but I propose thse rules: No personal attacks. Disagreements are one thing, it doesn't have to turn into insults. In the serious discussion forums, I think we should avoid political debates they always seem to get out of hand online. I don't mean a ban on political discussion, just keep it civil and don't get into loops where everyone is just repeating themselves. As much as I would like to say ban the weed talk, I also considered the fact that weed isn't illegal in plenty of countries, this is an international forum, and I've heard of traditional hookah smoking involving opium. Anyway, this is all just hypothetical, it's adrock's forum so he sets the rules. But any other ideas for sensible rules, post em up.
cypress
I think the FAQ can include a basic setup of a hookah, maybe the links to the 2 videos that were made, a list of the hookah websites, and maybe include a friendly remider to at least try to search previous topics. I know its hard to find the exact questions but at least if you tried to find it you might find out something else you might not know. I am not sure how many countries weed is legal in but the top 10 countries that are represented on this forum I believe its not legal. I personally as a member do not be a part a weed smoking forum. I believe that there are other apropriate forums for that. I am pretty sure between the mods and the admin we can come up with something that is appropriate. Mathazar
I was in a Fitness/Vegan forum recently, and on the Welcome Page in the Rules section it specifically stated in the first paragraph that any mention of either the word meat or topics relating to it would cause immediate banning of the poster. This is a hookah forum, and whether or not weed is legal in certain countries, in many countries it is illegal. And since this forum is based in the United States, I would have to say that we make it specifically known to all members that any mention of the topic of marijuana or weed will in effect be grounds for immediate banning.......no questions asked. And in the same regard, I suppose I should not be talking about cigars and pipe tobacco, either. It's not illegal to smoke, but once again, we should try to uphold the standards of this forum and restrict all topics to hookah related subjects. It's really the only way to uphold the integrity of the forum and it's members. If we as moderators allow 1 or 2 people to get away with it, then in effect we're saying that it's okay for everyone to discuss it.
MR Bubble
Yep, I felt like the "thought Police" by deleting the thread, but I remember when the topic was brought up before. If I remember correctly, it turned pretty ugly, with everyone throwing-up insults. Seems that's around the time we lost a number of awesome members and it's sad to see these people go. We can accuse them of not having "thick skin," but that is pointless as they just may have been turned off by what seemed like a Roman bath party. I love freedom! I really don't think we have enough freedom any more in this country, but I don't want to see more member/visitors driven away from this forum by the petty insult barfing that happens when the topic gets started. joemartin
I just asked an honest question i need help with. I dont apreciate all the hate. Talking about something isnt going to hurt anyone. Thanks for smothering free speech. If there was a rule i would comply, in the meantime I think people need to ignore what they arnt interested in. Im not a little kid, and all I wanted was the advice that I was fortunate to get. All of this has no basis in the site rules, please petition to make a note of whether or not all topics are acceptable in the rule/ TOS
joemartin
PS im not reely mad at you guys, you're all very cool. its just that i felt all this hooplah was my fault
Mathazar
It's not your fault, I didn't even read the thread, but I do agree with MR Bubble for deleting it. Logically, one would not go into a home cooking forum and start talking about hookahs. Nor would one go into a forum that has to do with wine tasting and start a thread on the subject of politics. It's simple forum etiquette to stay on the topic of the forum. This is the Hookah Forum, and every & all subjects should be hookah related. Weed has no place in a hookah forum, and anyone who persists talking about the subject after being warned once should infact be banned without warning. I'm not trying to drive away good members, I'm just stating my personal opinion, if your thread is not about hookahs, then take it somewhere else
joemartin
the question i originally posted was hookah-centric. everybody just didnt like what i use my hookah for.....

All of this has no basis in the site rules, please petition to make a note of whether or not all topics are acceptable in the rule/ TOS [/quote] Perhaps it is because many people, including myself, find it disrespectful to use said substance in the hookah. This is a device held in high regards to many people, and marijuana has no place in it. I have a few friends from the middle east, namely Turkey, and they believe it to be an insult to their culture when people use the Narghile for marijuana. To an unfortunately large number of americans, the hookah is just a big bong. I would venture to say that probably 25% of the hookahs here in the us have never even had ma'assel in them, just the other stuff. It really is sad. NERV
Indeed, cultural things can be very important to people. I remember there was someone on the forum, I think he was syrian. But, he got pissed as hell when I happened to not clean it for 60 smokes. He called me a disgrace and such, lol. And thats just from lazy maintinance, you can imagine how some people would get from using improper substances like weed. That would be like asking a wine conneseur(sp?) which kool-aid powder goes best with wine.
cypress
As much as I want to keep going on and on about my personal thoughts about people who do drugs I am not. Free speech in America applies to expressing ones thoughts without doing or thinking about doing something illegal. Bottom line I am not going to condone an illegal activity. King Mo
I'm with the moderators on this one. At the end of the day, cannabis is a drug, can F people up pretty badly, and not something you'd want your younger brothers/children etc to get into. They are also illegal, and therefore it affects the integrity of the whole forum by turning a blind eye to it. keep it up guys
